Hi everyone,

I have been eyeing this setting for quite a while now. I was wondering if I should be worried that the bagguettes and side round diamonds would be torn off if something got caught underneath them. I have never seen side diamonds that sit so high above the setting before.

I saw this setting in person today, and is it gorgeous!

Should I be worried? I appreciate everybody's opinion!!

Thanks!!

I really hope you have nothing to worry about because my son just bought that exact setting for his girlfriend. I have seen the setting in person and it is striking. This is a well made designer setting and the stones seem pretty secure. I would recommend not doing any gardening or housework with it on. For that matter, don't go digging in boxes at work either.

I'd also have it checked periodically to make sure the stones are secure. My son insured his ring through Chubb. At first they said they weren't writing any new policies for just jewelry, but for an engagement ring, they were still writing policies under that program.

I haven't seen the ring since WhiteFlash set the H&A center stone in it -- but it arrives with my niece from out of state tomorrow!! Can't wait.

My second post was supposed to say -- Check out Mondera.com. They have a similar platinum setting - with the baggettes on either side of the center stone followed by two smaller round stones - but the stones are not set as high. I'm not sure if you would call it a channel setting or bezel setting - but check it out. I have not seen the Mondera setting in person to give you a personal comparison, however.

Thanks for your input! The first time I saw that ring, I knew I had to get it! Actually, all Verragio rings are gorgeous!

Did your niece bring in the ring yet? Post pics!!

I can only imagine how everybody's eyes will light up!

My niece arrives this evening. I'll try and get my son to post some pics for you early next week.

Confoozed,
I absolutely love this setting and the fact that the diamonds sit up so high. I have been looking for a new setting for my diamond, and this is one on my list. As long as you don't wear your e-ring while cleaning or gardening, etc., you'll be fine.

Newbiehere,

Thanks! I can't wait to see what your son picked out!

Should I be concerned with the split prongs? Are they weaker than the traditional 4 prongs?

I looovvveeee this setting. Seen it in person too.

MY problem is that it is a very large/thick setting and I have TINY size 4.5 finger. So, what I am doing is going to see a Verragio Euro Collection of this same setting (smaller version they make) that my local retailer/jeweler got in "on loan" or on memo as they call it. It just came in today I guess - so I get to go check it out soon!

I'll tell you what I think for sure!

Great setting! Lots of fine detailing.

I too am interested in getting a setting for a loose stone currently. I was wondering if anyone knew if you had to get the setting with the stone all made at the same time or if you could buy the setting off the web, ship it to a local jewellers and have the stone set there? I'm looking at a Pt ring and I've heard that unlike white gold they are very hard to work with (ie v.difficult to get resized) and would therefore assume this is the same issue for the setting. Then again, I don't imagine that the diamond is set in the ring during the forging process while the ring is still hot. Opinions?

Thanks

DancinGirl,

OHHHHHHHHH The Euro collection is nice too!! I am infatuated with Verragio rings now!

Let us know what you picked out!

blakeo,

If you purchase the setting at your local jeweler, they will order the setting and they will set all the stones for you! They could even modify the setting if you need to.

Good luck in your search!

DancinGirl - Let us know how you like the euro. I like the look of the squared bottom - I think it will keep your ring from spinning and be more comfortable to wear!

Confoozed - Regarding the double prong - 8 prong setting - I really liked it in person. It looks stronger to me than a four, more secure and not as "busy" as a six prong. In fact I liked that feature alot! I'll try to post pics later!

Ooookkkaaayyyy...

BIG PROBLEMS for my boyfriend!!

I LOOOVVVEEEE the Euro setting!!! UGH! Ya, it fit my perfectly. Totally perfect and gorgeous. I am smitten...damnit all! I am saying it's not a good thing for HIM cause it's still a damn expensive setting. About $2300 for the Baguette and Round one (like pictures above only smaller).

The one they sent me actually wasn't even platinum or real diamonds.. just a fake one to show what it would look like. But damn girls...it is so nice!

I think my BF will be going Sunday when he gets back from CT to check it out. I told the saleslady to tell him all his payment options (credit card, layaway, etc etc)

If any of you have seen the Euro one sold for less, let me know.

THANKS GUYS!

Dancingirl,

Oh my goodness Euro Collection it is! I'm glad you found a ring that you love! I hope your bf will get that ring for you! *hopes and prays* I'm sure you won't let it down if he doesn't give in! hehe!

Thanks, Confoozed..

Unfortunately, he went and saw it yesterday, and even though he said he liked it and all... he also said "It's REALLY expensive".

I then felt bad. So after we left I dropped the subject entirely.

When we went to bed last night, I told him "Yes, I like that setting a lot - but I know that whatever you get me I will love". and he said "I know, I would hope so!"

So I guess I will drop it now. The ball is in his court. He has the saleswoman's name and the ring information - so I have to just leave it there. Now I have to give him my center diamond that I have that will be used. I can't keep having it in my posession for me to look at if HE ever needs it to get set into a ring!

I'll keep you posted.

BUT DAMN IT IS SOOOO NICE!!
love.gif

Dancin Girl, I guess there's no way you can chip in for the setting, can you?

HAHA... No, I already have the center diamond ... this is HIS responsibility and I can't help him. I have the diamond because I did a trade in of my old engagement ring and spent another $1700 to get a larger stone.

Now you see why, right?
rolleyes.gif

Riiiight. I'd forgotten that. Yes, then he really shouldn't be balking at the price of this setting.
2.gif

HAHA..ya I hear ya. But it's still a lot of money for someone who doesn't have it to spend at the moment.

ALl in due time I guess....(sigh)
