I know many of you will cringe, but I have always loved the style of the Princess Diana ring.

I actually didn't even know this was such a thing until recently while searching for a ring that I realized that this style is most definitely credited to Princess Diana.

In any case...I found this vintage ring with the seller stating it was made around 1983, not that it matters, but I just want you to know what I do, at this point.

I know by many standards here, it isn't the best or even close, but in all honesty the best isn't in my budget.

Of course I would love a cornflower sapphire, but that is a quest for another day. Today, I come to you to ask about this particular ring.

What are your thoughts? I included pictures and the write up. The cost is $600. It is 18k gold. I took it to a jeweler and he said that there is a tiny piece chipped off one of the diamonds but likely I'll never notice. He also said he sees some feathering so he believes it is a natural stone.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with me. I've learned so much here and appreciate the time you all take to help people like me.

I love it. It's natural, the blue although not cornflower it has a brightness to it in certain lighting. Definitely not a dark dull stone. The ring has a presence on the finger and it's only $600. If you're not buying it, I will lol

It is a very pretty ring. What is “P” clarity? Also does the seller have a return policy?

All this being said - I don’t know what ‘P’
clarity is
it looks like you yourself has taken it to a jeweler for independent inspection.
assuming no prongs need to be worked on for safety
Did the jeweler say he agreed with the sellers assessment you copied in your post?
Is that picture on your hand?
Are you satisfied with the overall size of the sapphire/halo on you? Satisfied with diamond sparkle?
I think you did ok, assuming the answers are yes.
can you possibly find something ‘better’ out there for less or could you have offered less for this ring? Maybe.
but putting the ring together from scratch with same/very similar, I don’t think it would be easy to do for $600.

if you like it -be happy with the price. I would.

I wasn't familiar with that term either. I am in the USA and the ring came from the UK. I'm not sure if that helps. Also, yes, there is a return policy.

Not sure about the P either. The ring came from the UK. I am in the USA I thought it might be a term used over there. The jeweler stated that all the prongs are tight and that it appears to be what the seller states. The diamonds really sparkle much more in real life. Much more than the photos. The sapphire looks much closer to the photos as far as color. It isn't black on the finger, but obviously darkish.

That isn't my hand, but I think the size of the stone and halo is a good size for my finger/hand.

I'm happy with the look and I am happy that you said I couldn't create this for less. Thanks for your help.

Thank you so much! For some reason I want it even more now that you do! Haha. I appreciate your reply.

A complete ring that you are happy with for $600 is a totally different mindset than the original budget you were looking for just for the sapphire, earlier.
nothing wrong with either - just mindset of what’s ‘right’ for you.
Im happy that you are happy.

In Australia/UK the P stands for pique, which means included. It's the same as the I1/I2 clarity in US terms

Oh believe me....my mindset hasn't changed. I'm going to have a beauty of a cornflower someday. Lol!

Let's just call this ring a stepping stone on the sapphire journey. Haha

Thank you for your reply.

I think you got a nice ring for the price, and I like the general look, although I don't know if you or anybody else has noticed the asymmetry in the ring. The entire sapphire and halo look not straight relative to the ring band, like the head of the ring has been rotated 5-10 degrees counterclockwise from horizontal. Maybe this is due to the photography, but it looks to be consistently the case, as I can see it in the first three photos and the last one. The only picture where it's not apparent is the one from the back. Hopefully this is something your jeweller can fix, or you're not that bothered by it.

I see it now.
Like the shoulder on one side is rotated as well as the head.
Good catch and good question. I’m sure it depends on if it came that way as made, or was torqued.
Don’t know if it has compromised integrity of the setting or not.

I will definitely have the jeweler take a look at this. THANK YOU!

Wow! Good eye! Thanks for informing me. I will look into this more. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

P clarity is for Pique or the I equivalent, lower than SI clarity.

Thank you for this explanation. I'm always learning here and appreciate your input.

As a side note, these diamonds may be lower quality, but they don't look it...and they sparkle like nobody's business.

I think it’s a smashing ring for $600. It’s lovely on the hand and if the diamonds sparkle who cares if the clarity in a bit lower. I’d keep it and love it.

What do you think the name of this color/hue/saturation would be?
