I was looking to find a nice blue zircon on budget. I think I have looked through all the suggested vendors, and after long consideration I have bought my blue zircon.
It is from Jeff Davies, and was really a steal. I would like to use it as a stone for a right hand ring. It is 6.66*6.66 and 5.1 deep. I’m a little bit afraid it’s going to be too small, but on the other hand I don’t like anything substantial on my right hand. And if it is too small, I still can halo it, am I right?:Up_to_something2:

I have something similar as setting in mind, inspired by Pippa’s ER:

I hope to get it soon, I’m really curious, if zircons are really as sparkly, as they are told.

Gorgeous!!! Love the color and cut!

Beautiful. And yes they are as sparkly as can be. Right up there next to diamond. But with double refraction, so what fire/scintillation you see, you see twice.:clap:

Oh gorgeous!!!! Yes they sparkle like crazy! Right up there with a diamond as Ringo has stated.

It is such a fabulous option for those of us who can't afford coloured diamonds! I only wish they were tougher! I have 2 zircons and I LOVE them!!!!!! My aim in life is to get a green one, one day if a nice one exists!

The cut on yours looks fabulous! I adore halos so my vote is to halo it! Instant increase in size! And the blue will look so lovely with white diamonds around it!

That is one gorgeous looking zircon. I love the cut! I think the color more than makes up for the size but if there's any doubt, halo it.
*chanting "halo it" repeatedly in the background*
I love the halo ring pic you posted. It would look awesome set like that. :kiss2:

Oh wow that is gorgeous!

Desertrose, Ringo, mellowyellowgirl, elle, junebug - thank you for your positive comments.
I’m afraid it’s going to take at about 2 weeks to get it from Thailand, so I have to be patient.
Regarding setting I’m going to make a decision only, if I have it in my hands. I’m also leaning towards the halo setting, but it would add I guess at about 2.5 mm to the finger coverage, so the ring would have a 9 mm width!
I really have to decide, if this is what I’m looking for, or maybe only 2 tapered baguettes. I find the look of an asscher with tapered baguettes really sophisticated.
Or do you have other suggestions? I’m looking through Pinterest, Etsy and every possible forums for ideas, but Asschers does not seem to be popular nowadays.

Oh...and could maybe someone photoshop the stone into the setting, that I get a better idea, how it would look? It would be awesome, if someone could do it! Thank you in forward!

I got tapered baguettes with mine and I love it even if it wasn't a halo. I can't remember the measurements of my stone off hand though! I just know it was 3 carats.

Mellowyellowgirl - my stone is 2.45 ct. I’ve tried to find your ring with the tapered baguettes, but I have only found the pink zircon in halo. Could you show me your blue zircon ring?
I just remember the ring from mochiko, but she has an emerald cut zircon with baguettes.

Oh wow...very nice! I like “chubby” emerald cuts! This setting just looks so balanced and sophisticated!

A very pretty color and cool cut! I vote for the baguettes on the sides. Can't wait to see your photos once you get it and read your thoughts on the stone.

I think it's very pretty but I would just caution that asschers are deep and sometimes have high crowns, so you may have to get a custom setting. It would probably need longer prongs and double prongs would be ideal. I think it's a nice size, the color will make it really stand out, especially if you manage to find pastel pink side stones.

StoneHunter - I also can’t wait to get it, but unfortunately it still hasn’t shipped because of the holidays. You can be sure I’m going to post a lot of pictures.

T L - the setting I’m going to buy only in April, I’m going to ask my usual jeweler to make it, but thank you for your points, I’m going to consider them.
Unfortunately pink side stones are not really what I have envisioned, I’m going to stick to diamonds.

So a few days before my zircon from Jeff Davies arrived. OMG, it is small, but I still like it! Unfortunately we still hadn't any sunshine, since it arrived - accordint to the news, it is the winter with the less sunny hours in the last 25 years - so I have only seen it on overcast days, and in artificial light.

I've tried to snap a few pictures, but it is really hard.C71E9EFD-B85C-417D-98DA-BDC223E40BE8.jpeg

Beautiful! :kiss2:

Gorgeous!!!!! Not small at all! That cut packs a punch!

Haha I'm finding my 5 carat zircon too big!

I love it!!!

It's beautiful and I just love the color.
I'm still voting for a halo but baguette sides would be gorgeous too.

Gorgeous!!!!

VERY pretty! Your photos look quite a bit like the vendor photos.

Ohhh that is so pretty and so well cut. Seriously going to make one spectacular ring. Congrats!

Oooh I love it!

I have never seen a zircon, is it sparkly like a diamond?

I ordered this zircon, to see it also, because I was so tempted by the zircon of others.
And yes, it’s really sparkly. As you know diamond has an RI of 2.4 and zircon has 1.8-2, so quite high, and has even double refraction, so really sparkly.
It won’t be my last one!:kiss2:

Today afternoon we have been to Marriott Vienna! I just love the lightning there, and I have bought my zircon with me for a shooting session. I’m sure, a few people thought I’m a little bit crazy, but who cares....I’m a PSer.

The zircon has a beautiful saturated blue color, which was really hard to capture, but I tried to do my best:

I think the second picture captioned the best the color, what I have seen.

I wanted to give an update, as I managed to set my stone. Unfortunately the setting is a little bit more bulky, than I wanted, but I still like it. Here a few pictures. First one is in the outside in shade, the second one is inside in natural light.

I love this. The setting is substantial but the stone can hold its own IMO and that color is just beautiful. I love the contrast between the setting and the zircon and it pops. Zirconlicious! Looks great on your finger too.:appl:
