Still trying to find a setting for my pink asscher tourmaline (9x9mm). I am having such a hard time finding something that fits under $1k. I think I just want a tapered baguette setting with .20 total cw. 14k is fine. I've looked where I know to and have come up with nothing. I'd love any suggestions other than a bezel to fit my budget. After my experience with a Chinese vendor I prefer not to go that route again. Any ideas????? I am about to put it in the jewelry box and forget it! :errrr:

I would suggest Etsy too!

I like Sally's and DanielM but he does seem to do mostly bezels which I don't want for this ring. How does it work shipping overseas to Sally

Usually a custom job means they can make what you want to your specifications. Just because a designer might specialize in something (like bezels or pave) doesn't mean that's all they can do.

Have you tried Wink Jones? He is extremely reasonable and does custom work. Here are some examples, and you can check out the "Custom Gallery" http://freecz.com/store/rings.php

It just seems like at this point you have something very specific in mind and you've already been disappointed. Going custom is probably the way to go rather than trying to find the perfect premade mount for your stone.

Oh and I've used Windy City Diamonds in Chicago (they have a website too) for quite a few setting jobs and they were great. Really nice settings and super reasonable in price. Jim there is great to work with.

I got quotes from DM a few days ago on 2 different custom settings, and neither were bezels, both prongs, so never hurts to ask!

I loved working w/Sally but I'm not wild about sending stuff over there.

Can contact Michael E as well-he does custom work too!

Wow just checked their site. I book marked 4 settings I am going to call them about. Might even be heading to the Windy City in Oct.

Does Daniel set your stone if you send it to him? I checked out OU's setting he did with baguettes. It's great.

I love WCD. Definitely hit them up if you're going to be in Chicago. Dimend Scaasi in Chicago also has nice settings, but I've never worked with them. However, Frekechild has a gorgeous engraved split shank from them. However, I think they're a bit pricier than WCD.

Daniel does set your stone if you send it to him.

I too recommend Daniel M from Etsy - he is currently setting my blue Topaz. He gave me a quote for that baguette setting of around $US400.

Daniel M does nice prong settings for really reasonable prices. More reasonable than Julia, Sally, or almost any of my other Etsy faves.

Hi! I will feel badly if I didn't jump on the Daniel M bandwagon of recommendations!
I recently had a stone set by them, and the entire experience was
wonderful!
If you tell them what you want, they can prob do it!
In fact, I just sent them another of my stones to set!

I sent a message to Daniel M today. I am excited to hear what he has to say.
