Hi guys,

I just wanted to vent a bit. FI & I are having a DW at an all-inclusive resort on April 29, 2006. One of the big draws was that the wedding would be super-easy to plan (there''s a wedding coordinator on site) & we''d be able to do lots of fun things with our guests as the resort is all-inclusive.

We sent out save-the-dates in October, then sent out official invitations a few weeks ago. Our guests had booked 14 rooms as of January, but some people are calling to book now & the resort is completely full!

As the resort is all-inclusive, even if guests stay elsewhere, they''ll (or we''ll) have to pay to get them on property. And this really nixes the whole convenience of the all-inclusive thing if we''re going to have to coordinate & plan all of the details now.

Ugh. I called my travel agent & he''s checking around for other lodging possibilities in Negril. I hope this will work out ok...

Keep your chin up honey!!

*HUGS* It will all work out!!! :)

They didn''t offer you the option of blocking rooms???

Ooh no, Brightspot, this is so terrible! Not at all what you want to think about right now, is it?
I really hope that things work out for you!

Oh you must be LIVID!!!!! I am so sorry to hear this! You''d think they''d block more rooms off for you, after all, it''s still 4 months away and of course people will still be making plans. I''m so sorry you have to go through this.

Oh no!!! I''ve been a little afraid of this type of thing occurring as well - our hotel only let us block 10 rooms at a time, ours is on a holiday weekend, everyone is travelling to the wedding, and it''s a popular weekend getaway type location... BUT, we don''t have the all-inclusive situation to deal with and there are literally hundreds of places to find rooms...

I guess just try to let the travel agent work something out - otherwise I wonder if there might be some way to negotiate a discount on the ''day-passes'' to the resort for your guests??? That''s just rotten!!!

When you told me this earlier I was suprised. I really hope it all works out for you and your guests. Hang in there!! They need to help you resolve this and fast!!!

Try not to worry about it. Not much you can do about it now. I am sure everything will work out and your guests are just excited to be there with you. I am sure they won''t mind a little extra hastle.

Oh no BS!! I definitely hope things work out for the better. Keep us posted

Thanks so much for your support.

That was definitely not good news yesterday, but we may have a few options. Our travel agent said it wasn''t an option to block off rooms at these resorts without pre-paying for them.

Apparently resorts in Jamaica book up quickly.

I talked to 2 different travel agents & each has worked out a plan B for us. It seems there are a couple of cheaper B&B''s in the area which have rooms available so that even with the cost of the day pass, it''ll still be reasonably priced. Also, another agent was able to work out reciprocal exchanges between our resort & another Couples resort.

So, while these options will be less convenient for our guests than staying at our resort, it still seems feasible.

Thanks again for posting...hearing your thoughts really made me feel better.

I''ll keep you posted with updates--have a great weekend!

That sounds like a great plan. It''s going to work out fine. Hope you are feeling better!!!

whew!! I''m so glad your other travel agents were able to work out a couple other options!! I think it will all work out fine, this way the guests have some choices on where they can stay too!

What a pain though...

Brightspot, I am so glad to hear that everything worked out for you!!

Thanks so much, everyone. I''m definitely feeling much better about the hotel situation (though my cold is still lingering..sniff..)

Flopkins, you''re right--it''ll be nice for the guests to have some options.

I think FI has lined up some reggae dance lessons for us as well. Yay!
