I asked for advice a few weeks ago about getting a second dog - and really appreciated all the responses. We did in fact get the second dog, and the two are getting along great :)

My older dog is a king charles spaniel, age 5 - his name is Rip. He's the greatest dog i have EVER had- fun loving, snuggly, and loves all animals and humans. I was never a small dog person until i found cavaliers - they are amazing dogs.

Our new puppy is who knows what!?!? her mom looks like a mini golden retriever, but with upright ears. In the puppy mix, it looks like it's possible there is some collie/shepherd in there. Her name is Rhonda (thanks to my DH, who's always yelling "help me rhonda" around the house) and she's chocolate brown with blue eyes. I think she'll be around 35 lbs., but again - the jury is still out on that.

The puppy is puppy-like :nono: , but sweet and adorable, and the older dog is like a new man! play play play all the time, which i was worried about - he loves her. follows her everywhere and checks on her and they snuggle - i love it. Of course, as i am sleep deprived now, puppies can be irritating, but overall it's going REALLY well!!!!

edit: this is rhonda and DH eating dinner!!

Sooooo cute Violet! i mean really, that puppy is ridiculous  thanks for brightening my morning!

EEEEEEEEEE! Rhonda is so freaking adorable! What a great way to start my day today. Post more pictures when you take them! I don't think I could ever get tired of looking at that cutie patootie!

thanks blackpaw and princess!

I will post more soon - she's really lucky she's so adorable, because i forgot what the puppy-ness was like. can't turn around for one minute. Thankfully, she's not a real chewer like my first dog was - and when she does want to chew, she chews on the older dog :appl: I've also embraced the squirt bottle, and it seems to be a good deterrant.

crating her, on the other hand, is NOT going well. :nono:

rhonda matches the couch - we have to try hard not to sit on her!

In an attempt to get Rhonda to use her leash, i let her drag it around the house for a while each day. My DH felt badly for her and layed down on the floor to free her from her leash. He then promptly feel asleep next to her and they stayed like that for half and hour before i woke him up - it was too cute :love

She looks like a teddy bear.

Congratulations! She's adorable!

violet she's BEAUTIFUL! I'm so happy she's home with you now. She really does look like an adorable little bear cub! I wonder how big she'll get? She's a cute little chubaroo, but her paws aren't that big. (I think you'll be grateful for that!) Maybe she won't get too big.
Please take pics of her as she grows so we can see what she looks like. Congrats to Mom, Dad & Rip!

CUTE OVERLOAD! Rhonda is adorable, and so is Rip!

Aw, I hope you have lots of fun with your new furbaby. She's really a beauty.

thanks lulu and zoe!

gemgirl and haven - thanks so much! she's pretty hilarious -- thank you both for taking your time to share your stories with me. it helped me tremedously when making the decision to get another dog.

we're all REALLY tired here, but that's the worst of it. Good training for a baby if i ever decide to have one

Oh, Rhonda is adorable! Congrats on your new family member. Rip looks so sweet and I'm glad that he's being so welcoming to your new fur baby!
