I post here every now and then and have really appreciated everyone's input and suggestions! Our wedding is tomorrow (08.06.06) on the Carnival Conquest in Galveston, TX. So far everything has been very smooth, as you'd expect with a more "packaged" wedding, but I 've learned a few things that might help others getting married a bit of a ways away from home (Galveston is 1.5 hours away).
1. If your wedding is withn driving distance, I would highly recommend renting a mini bus with driver to take everyone there and back. The biggest stresser for me has been how to get everyone to the ship, especially the out-of-town guests who did not rent a car.
2. Small favors. Sounds silly but I bought tons of favors and the boxes fill six large shopping bags. Toting that onto the ship along with the dress, flowers, etc. is going to be a nightmare.
3. For any wedding there are soooo many opportunities to make it personalized. Music, flowers, programs, cake topper... Just because you buy a wedding package doesn't mean you can't add special touches. Just ask the coordinator what's possible!
I hope someone finds this helpful. Please send positive thoughts our way that we get everything onto the ship safely and with no one fussing at each other.
Best of luck to you all!!
Michele
