It was gorgeous out over the weekend so I had to take some of my kitties out for a nice walk
1.gif
Out of 5 only 2 really enjoys it so here are some pictures of my NaiNai (walking with me) and Max.

First not so flattering picture of me, but a beautiful picture of NaiNai walking so well.

Close up of NaiNai. He really enjoys walking outside like this, I actually used to take him with me in the morning walks and as long as we stay away from the main roads he just leisurely walks enjoying all the scenery and smell

Surprisingly, the only other one that actually enjoys outing like this is my Max. He's usually so painfully shy, he doesn't even eat unless I sit with him. Growing up with 3 big brothers must've been tough on the little guy
39.gif
I call him my ghost kitty because he normally hides out and doesn't come out unless everyone else has gone off to bed. I actually have very few pictures of him because he can be difficult guy to meet

I just think this picture is so funny because it looks like he's yelling at someone
9.gif
He was actually just meowing, it was end of our walk and he was getting tired and cranky and wanted to go home

OMG they are GORGEOUS

What beautiful babies - they are both so striking looking. And that''s so wonderful that they enjoy going out. One of ours always meows at the windows like she wants to go out, but when we tried putting a walking-jacket type harness and a leash on her, she wouldn''t move at all with it on. She''s normally super laid back and pretty much OK with everything, but she acted catatonic (no pun intended

) with this thing on.

I think its great that yours are so willing to go out. Thank you so much for sharing those delightful pictures of your beautiful babies

Awwww...I just looked at your blog. How incredibly heartwarming - its always so lovely to meet a fellow cat lover, and you did such a beautiful thing by rescuing little Roxy - what an incredible story and what a huge heart you must have

OMG your babies are beautiful :)

I have yet to try my kitties on a leash but that looks like a lot of fun :)

You have such beautiful kitties!! How did you train them to enjoy walking with the leash? I am so in awe! You can tell how much your kitties love you too!!

Oh, they''re such good walkers! I looked at your blog, too, and your babies are all so beautiful! I also loved Roxy''s story...I got so sad when I read about Dizzy, but I read the comment that someone else gave her a home, so I felt better.

I am a fellow cat lover and I have three beautiful rescues of my own! Here''s a link to a thread where I posted pics of them:

Those are amazing pictures of your feline friends!! I am a cat person through and through. I just can''t get into dogs. Too high maintenence.

I love the M.E.O.W. picture.

aww they''re gorgeous!!! So pretty.

What kind of harness do you use for them? I have one but it''s more bulky and goes across thier chest as well as behind their legs (I think it''s just a small dog harness) and all my cats do when I put it on is lay down and refuse to move.
7.gif
I think it''s great that your kitties go for walks!

Awwww, you''re lucky! Look at how nicely NaiNai walks with you.

I take my cat for walks sometimes. He gets really excited when I bring out the harness and leash, dashes outside as soon as I open the door, and then...

...he finds the first patch of grass and just lies down and starts sniffing things. I bring a book with me. He goes...maybe 15 ft. away from the front door?

LOVE the second photo of Max. What a handsome feller!

Awww, it''s so great that your kitties like going for walks. They are really gorgeous kitties and I love the pictures! My Zoe used to love to go out on the leash. She would spend hours outside with me. I really miss that. None of my other kitties will get near the leash or want to go outside. You are so lucky!!!

ROFL wishful and nytempist - wishful that''s pretty much exactly what our kitty did when we tried, except she would just stand still in one place and then tip over. It was actually pretty funny!

nytempist - that is so funny, I can just see your kitty getting a few feet outside the door and then just plopping down in the grass. Too cute
36.gif

Aww thank you everyone for your kind words. My boys are flattered
5.gif

NaiNai is just naturally relaxed in most situations and with everyone, loves to go for walks, loves to ride in cars (yowls my ears off for hours though) On the other hand I have another boy who is the most outgoing, friendly, brave cat ever yet as soon as I put a leash on him and take him out he freezes and would not move a single step. If I really insist he''ll literally just tip over too like AmberGretchen''s cat! LOL! It''s the weirdest thing and so unlike him, but I always say he has his own reasons
2.gif

Wishful, I got the regular cat leashes for them but I actually just ordered the walking jacket thing. Leashes just aren''t that comfortable and don''t really seem all that secure if cats get scared. We''ll see how the jackets work I guess. Looks like your cats want to go outside in your avatar
2.gif

And so sweet of everyone who read my (their) blog, especially about my special little lady Roxy
5.gif
As you saw she is very special, and it was love at first sight when I met this tiny wobbly baby. But that was only a beginning and we now have such a special relationship, and I feel a very intense emotional attachment towards her which sometimes scares me. Everyone says how wonderful it is that I took her in, but the truth is she has brought me so much joy, has made my life so much brighter, that I''m the lucky one to have her in my life.

As you can see I need no urging just to go on and on about my little one

Your furbabies are SO HANDSOME! I''m jealous that they go for walks with you. My little man Sebastian was the only cat I''ve ever had that liked to go for walks.

I have a friend whose cat acts as if he is paralyzed when she puts him in a harness. He LITERALLY freezes, falls over, and lies there completely frozen. She left him in the hallway outside of her apartment once when he did that and every time she peeked out he was just lying there frozen. Her neighbor thought he was dead. Then, after lying like that for about half an hour he rolled onto his belly and began dragging himself to the apartment door with his front paws only. His back legs were stretched out behind him, totally useless. She took the harness off and he was back to his old self. He is an odd little guy. Hilarious story, though, if you ask me.

OMG babyblue - I am looking through your blog and all those sweet pictures of the lovely Miss Roxy are just killing me - she is such a gorgeous baby, and she totally reminds me of my Gretchen - I think they look a little bit alike. She just exudes love and sweetness - you can see it in every picture. I can see why you are so in love with her.

I''ll see if I can find a good picture of my Gretchen princess to post tomorrow.

Yeah that's pretty much all they'll do. I put the darn thing on and they immediately lay down. I've tried the ole "drag - drag" for a couple inches to see if they'd rather get up and walk..but to no avail.

Oh YES..they would LOOOOOOVE
30.gif
to go outside esp Pumpkin (obviously the big orange one) but I''m the ultra paranoid mom and I''m afraid they''d get hit by a car or eaten by a coyote. So they are indoor only.
In the avatar pic they were eagerly and anxiously salivating over a pigeon on the city street.
11.gif

Thanks for the info about the walking jacket. I''ll check that out.
2.gif

In regards to the harness thing, my cat did the whole lie-down-can''t-get-up thing at first. I thought the harness must have been too tight, so I kept loosening it until it was hanging off of him and he STILL pretended he couldn''t walk!

So I tightened it back up and started dangling treats in front of his nose.

He walks on it just fine now. Tricky little things, aren''t they?
5.gif

Hahah, I love it!! Oh, they are absolutely precious!!!

Oh I could never let my babies outside on their own either, I''d die with worry! And gray hair will go very badly with my red hair

AmberGretchen, so where are the promised pictures of Gretchen princess?

Well, since you asked

And another

She "adopted" Ollie early on - it was so cute when I found them snuggling like this

OK, last one I promise otherwise this will be an unforgivable threadjack

- this is all three of my babies.

What beautiful kitties!

I tried putting a leash on my cats and they looked at me as if I had lost my mind
26.gif
I loved looking at your well behaved kitties!

The expression in that second picture looks just like my Roxy! We're spending a lazy rainy afternoon in bed right now and she's giving me that same look
1.gif

How sweet she adopted baby Ollie like that! Roxy unfortunately is pretty much the bratty little sister who everyone ignores/avoids and has no friends here
39.gif
She is the sweetest, people oriented kitty, but it seems my spoiling her early on due to her disability may have hindered her from developing proper feline etiquettes and she is a TERROR with the other kitties. Not in a mean way, just doesn't know how to interact with other cats aside from biting and clawing
38.gif

Looking at that picture with all your kitties made me wonder one thing. Was that shelf with all the cushions initially meant for PEOPLE or CATS? Just asking since my kitties have tendency to turn MY stuff into THEIR stuff no matter what my original intention may have been and. I also noticed there's one EMPTY cushion...
31.gif

And do I see blinds with bent up pieces? We're renting and we'll have to replace all our blinds thanks to our boys!
