Hi all,

i've been researching diamonds, specifically ovals in 3 stone settings for the last several months. I've been referred to a local jeweler, combed bluenile/james allen and have looked at Ring Concierge and Lauren b (my girlfriend absolutely loves RC styles)
Given the bowtie effect and the nature of ovals I'm hesitant to purchase the center stone on BN or JA. While I'm sure the value can be there, I just don't want to risk anything and be in a position where I'm at UPS the next day sending it back.

this is the ring I am hoping for, does it make sense to try and replicate that elsewhere? I feel like I'm probably paying a markup doing it with them due to the instagram hype and the fact that they are a riskless broker in the transaction but my main concern is the finished product being exactly what my gf wants. My thinking at this point is if I dont go the wholesale route/anyone I use will be charging a markup so its all about the quality of the work, selection process of the stone and overall finished product.

One positive is I've been able to narrow down my criteria which atleast puts me on the right track, but committing to a route from here has been difficult.
for context: 2ct /G/Si1 and better/1.35 l/w ratio etc.

Any helpful thoughts or ideas would be so greatly appreciated, thank you all! :cool2:

James Allen has a physical location in NY. I don't know the status with Covid. You may be able to see some stones in person. Just a thought.

Ovals are hard to pick. If you are going to be second-guessing yourself then its probably best you stick with RC. The only other
person/vendor I would recommend in NY is David at Diamonds by Lauren. You could also contact him and see what he could put
together for you at what price. If you are going with 3 stone ovals, you will need matching ovals. I would go look at RC's 3 stone ovals
first to see what they look like.

FYI...oval light return can be so-so. Put them in a setting tilted and you decrease light return even more (from the top). Make sure
you see one of these rings and like it before you have it created.

If you want a really nice oval pick something like this

Here is some oval info that should be useful
