Hello guys, I've been on the hunt for a natural oval ring for a few weeks now. Im looking to buy a yellow gold pave ring from james allen, but im concerned because I wont be able to see it in person first. Ive found an Si2, excellent cut, 1.5 carat, F color ring for about 7k. Is this good? Im concerned about the SI2, please share advice.

Ovals cant be evaluated without pics/videos

Can you put it on hold and provide us the link as well as the GIA report?

I recently saw something promising emerald cut in 4-5ct range online at JA and asked to see the stones in real person in their NY showroom. I know a lot of people had great experience with JA online purchase, but I couldn’t tell you how shocked was I abt the low cut quality of those stones when I see them in person. These are $100k stones in G to E color on the paper with great potential. Maybe oval is slightly different as it’s still a brilliant cut, but I personally would never shop a fancy cut without seeing a real life video.

If JA doesn’t provide one, I know some vendors supply to Blue Nile do provide videos if you insist.

Just by those two pictures, I'd say no to the 1.4 right off the bat. The crushed ice faceting isn't the best.
I want to show you a branded cut that I think is beautiful as an example of nice light play.
There are also lab stones that could also be a consideration, the same size for half the price, depending on how you personally feel and what's right for you.
I would try to keep these pictures in your head when looking through the databases of stones of whatever vendor you choose. You want light to bounce as best it can from end to end, no matter the style of faceting, so that is what you should look for.

I would pass on those two JA ovals too. First has an obvious bow-tie to me. Second is not a good oval shape.
