Wow, that is a steal.
I don't know how you do it, but you seems to have a radar for those fabulous ebay finds.
It is beautiful!

ETA: are you going to reset it or keep it in the original setting?

HI:

Whoa--looks great! Glad it was all you hoped it would be!

cheers--Sharon

What a steal! Congratulations!

BTW are you going to keep it in that setting or change it out? (Just curious since I''m on this setting kick of my own right now, LOL... )

FK, did you wear a mask when you picked it up? What a steal!!! It''s beautiful. Great job.

haha.. it was a HECK of a STEAL, wasn't! i should have worn a mask. but then again, they probably would have turned around and ran away when they saw me!!

These pictures don't even begin to show how sparkly it really is. the sun is just too harsh today, so it's either whiting out the diamond, or just looks blurry. I think i'll take some more pics around 6-ish. That's when i usually get the nicest shots!

I think i'm gonna keep it in the solitaire for now because I really like how it looks, especially how the shank tapers in towards the diamond. I was going to do a halo, and may still in a while, but for now, this suits me! Plus, it's platinum, so it'd be a waste to just change it out!

That is a gorgeous oval and apparently quite a find! More pics, more pics!!!

very true. that setting looks pretty substantial. it would be a waste to change it out.
can you post a picture of the profile as well?

again, it is a great great find. i don''t think you can get a 1+ ct diamond with that caliber for less than 1500 this day and age.

my camera''s charging, so i''ll post the profile later. it looks like the Stuller Solstice head, with the shoulders coming up and tapering in as it reaches the diamond. Quite substantial, but extremely comfortable to wear, and it''s sooo classic looking. I LOOOOOVE it!!!!

Another thing, I thought it''d be more tinted since it''s not a round, but it''s surprisingly white for a fancy shaped H. I still wish there is med fluor or strong fluor, but that''d just be greedy of me, wouldn''t it?

It''s also very clean for an SI1. There was only 3 teeny crystals and 2 tiny clouds, and all the inclusions are off on one side, and was very difficult to see with a loupe. It''s definitely better than I had originally thought.

hehehe... just did a search... Bluenile''s selling a similar diamond for $4500 + plat setting, so i got it for less than 1/3 of the price! SCORE!

Beautiful. Do you mind sharing who the ebay seller was?

WHAAAAAAT!!!!!! Now that''s a deal! I have a 1.2 ct oval and I paid, well, more than 1500 bucks! Good find on ebay. I''m always to scared! I like the setting a lot...and...there''s not a noticeable bow tie. Enjoy you''re new, beautiful, stone!!!

Grrr.. I had a huge thing typed up and my connection died, then my computer froze.

Here's the link to the auction: EBay auction she's a local private seller who wanted to get rid of an engagement ring, and started the auction at an incredibly low price. Her pics were crappy, but she emailed me the GIA report, and the numbers looked decent. Besides, if it really looked bad, then i could have easily said no and left... so i took a chance! This is probably the second best deal I've gotten on eBay. The best deal EVER has got to be my .90ct E VVS2 Marquise in a pave Plat. mount for $2100!! I do have really good luck on ebay. so far i've purchased 4 diamond rings, and they were all purchased for less than 1/3 of online retail prices. Not bad!

I still can't get over how white it is. Either way, I'm ecstatic!! This is one gorgeous diamond, and i'm glad i got it!!

WOW FK that stone looks amazing, it''s so sparkly!!! you are such a deal finder!!! more pictures!!

Thanks everyone for their nice comments!!

i'm so frustrated because it's SO much more sparkly in person! Fancies are so hard to photograph because they twinkle more than they sparkle, and it's so difficult to capture the contrast between the facets. I took about 50 pics and only those 6 were useable, whereas before, most of my rb pics were good the first time! Gonna wait for the sun to go down a bit more, then i'm gonna try again!!

ForteKitty, your ring is beautiful.

You are very brave.

Do you have the rings appriased that you purchase from EBay? Just to be sure they are real? Not looking to burst a bubble here, I am just curious?

That is so lucky that you perservere and keep finding such great buys. A great bargain feels sooooooo good!

I''m gonna have to surf ebay more often. Congrats!

Haha.. yeah, OF COURSE i get them appraised!! I always run it to a local jewelry store right after I get them.
Most importantly, I only buy diamonds that are GIA graded and Laser Inscribed, so that I can match the inscription numbers myself. I have a few steps that I follow very stictly:

First, I match the GIA report to their online report check to make sure it''s valid.

Then I match every single inclusions to the plot.

FInally, I measure the diamond, and check all the other details. I am pretty good at estimating table size, and I have an eagle eye for color and inclusion. Even VVS inclusions cannot escape me.

(okay, once they''ve been plotted, they cannot escape me)

It is beautiful, and what a great deal you got! Congratulations!!
