Hello,

I am in the market for a diamond that's about 1.71ct (the size was the first concern, followed by the best possible balance of cut/clarity/color) with a budget of ~$13k. I have been working with two diamond dealers thus far and nearly pulled the trigger on one yesterday before belatedly realizing it was EGL certified. I don't have the EGL diamond's certificate at this time, but the specs were 1.71 OV G SI1 EGLUSA quoted for ~$12k.

The other diamond dealer is quoting me this this one from GIA (1.70 OV, G, VS2) at $12,500. My one concern with this diamond (and I am absolutely a diamond amateur) is that its cut might not be very good given its steep depth. EDIT: For comparison's sake, I was able to find this one online that might have a better L/W ratio

Can I be doing better than these options? Are these being fairly priced? If not, does anyone have any ideas one where I might find such a diamond at a better quality for the price?

Apologies for the double post here, but I think I am trying to decide between the following two diamonds:

Roughly the same spec wise, but I'm wondering whether the latter has a better L/W ratio and its slightly lower depth might lead to less of a bowtie effect. The latter has excellent for both polish and symmetry, though I know I'll never notice the difference with my own eyes.

They cost roughly the same amount (though the former would be sold to me without sales tax, so final cost might be around $1k in the first one's favor) and I'd just like an expert's thoughts on which one might be the better way to go.
