I appreciate the opportunity to post on this forum. I have a P. Tourmaline ring that has scratches (see arrow). Can you tell me how to remove them and will it lose weight after the removal? Thank you so much! 0001.jpg

Its very hard to see from the photo, but I'm wondering - are you sure those are surface scratches and not inclusions?

They could be inclusions but they appear like scratches to me. Thanks for the reply!

A lapidary might be able to polish them out if they are scratches. The only way to know is to have a lapidary take a look at it.

I will start looking for a lapidary in my area tomorrow. Thanks a lot!

Where are you located? Lapidaries are not exactly easy to find, particularly ones to work on someone else's expensive stone like a cuprian. If there is a good colored gemstone jeweler near you, you could ask if they have the capacity to help you out. At this point, I'm just thinking out loud...

It would be good to find one that is located in Georgia or Florida. Do you know anyone in these areas? Please let me know! Thanks!

I have a better image of the stone. I was under the impression that they were scratches (see arrow). However, when I had it checked, it was verified to me that they are natural inclusions. You were right about them being inclusions. Thank you so much for all your help!

Happy to hear that they are inclusions - unless they are breaking the surface of the stone in which case you need to be extremely careful as it likely makes the stone more fragile. But hey - at least you don't have to worry about getting it polished! ;))
