Some of you may remember I bought an estate pad ring 3 years ago. The pad weighs 4.32 carats and is certified by AGL as unheated classic Sri Lanka. It''s an old stone from the 1920s and was orignally in a deco mounting. The previous owner had reset it in a typical cluster style ring in the 1950s. I bought the ring beacuse I love the peachy pick color, but I was never completely satisfied with the mounting. The stone faces up an emerald cut with wide corners, but the setting made it look like an oval. I considered resetting the stone, but dragged my feet because of the costs. Last November, Michael Beaudry was at a local trunk show for his line, and he was kind enough to personally sketch a setting for my pad. Two months ago, I finally decided to just go ahead and do it. After the long wait, the ring is finally back. I picked it up late this afternoon and I am very happy with my pad in the new Beaudry mounting. The setting is a splint shank double halo, with a small air line in between. The mounting is in platinum, but the prongs and the filigree work in the gallery are in rose gold. The rose gold enhances the color of the pad. The gallery is very elaborate with filigree and hand engraving. The split shank has pave diamonds in the split, but the rest of the shank is engraved on all sides. Now the setting enhances the shape and color of the stone. It''s night time now, but I can''t wait to snap a few pictures. The lighting is not quite right to capture the true color, but these are what I have so far. First is a ''before'' picture. The ''after'' pictures will follow:
