Even though I just registered, I was a long time lurker. So this is a thank you for everyone's indirect help.
For pretty much all of 2013 I was searching for stones and settings for an engagement ring. I knew she didn't want a typical diamond and she wanted it to be square. I dislike princess cut sapphires, so I was looking for square cushion cut stones.
So I went to look at a bunch of sapphires in various colors:
I liked the different pinks, so went back months later and looked at a bunch of pinks:
One of them really spoke to me. It was a beautiful salmon peach color (hard to tell in the photo) - a padparadscha. Unheated and 3.00 carats. I did some extensive research on pads on PS and found this lovely design:

In the mean time, the pad didn't come certified, so it was sent to GIA and AGL. AGL called it a pad and GIA called it pink, but both heated. Being heated it dropped the price quite a bit, but was still a lovely stone. Was I ever going to find a square pad again?
Months later I got the stone delivered - mind you the color is impossible to photograph.
Most importantly she said yes!
Close up of the outside shot:
Learnings:
I wish I hadn't closed the bottom of the ring so much, really darkened the stone and makes it impossible to clean easily.
On to my next journey!
