I'm interested in some pads but all the ones I find are either very expensive or pretty but has asymmetrical culets. Are asymmetrical culets accepted in colored gemstones? I know symmetrical is preferred but if it's asymmetrical is it still considered desirable if the color, clarity and light return (I forgot what it's called) are good?

Well, you can’t have everything. Padparaschas are pricey now.

As long as it is still pleasing to the eye when viewed face up.

What's up with pads these days, is it gem of the month or something? A flawed cut is a killer only if it give you a window IMHO, so we need to see images.

Thanks, chrono, that answers my question.

Anne, I always wanted one and sapphires are my birthstone. I want something other than blue. Also Princess Eugenie just got engaged and her stone is a pad. I'm hoping the populartiy and prices don't go up because of that :/ Maybe it already did.

That makes sense. Thanks for the info. Anybody got an image of that ring?

Asymmetrical culets? What? Seems to me that would be secondary to color in a sapphire.

Because of the rarity of the material, yes an asymetrical cullet is acceptable. Basically in the world of colored stones, sometimes, you take what you can get within a certain amount of parameters. Otherwise you have to play the waiting game.

If you have time, then wait. coontinue to save your pennies.

If the color is what I really want and its not heavily windowed (side windows are ok) to me thats a winner. That won't be true for everone here and it may not be true for you either. Get the stone thats "perfect" for you basically.

What is your price point?
