Hey guys! I saw that you both wore the Maggie Mariella on your wedding day and I was wondering if you had any more pictures you could share? I''m trying to get an idea on how certain situations look with it, if I should hem the train, plus... I am two months away from my wedding and am going CRAZY!

If you would like, my email is [email protected]

I would love to hear from you both! from what I saw, you both were GORGEOUS!

Hey irishtangerine, I am emailing you a bunch of photos!! I loved my Maggie dress, and I am sure you will look gorgeous! I don't think that alicia comes on the board too much these days, but maybe she'll come on and have some pics too. She looked stunning...and although I do love her dress choice,

Alicia's hair was just perfection.

Hey irishtangerine,

I wore Maggie''s Tayla for my wedding, which is pretty similar in shape to the Mariella. I loved my dress--I had pretty significant alterations done to it (my seamstress removed 2 layers of the skirt--the heavy satin lining & another lining layer, & replaced them with one thin lining) so it would be more comfortable for my beach wedding. I don''t know to what extent this changed the feel/fit of the dress, but I was pleased with the end result.

My only complaint was that my bustle didn''t stay put. My seamstress did a very simple bustle which consisted of a button at the top of the skirt. The loop on the train was supposed to loop over this button. Well, the loop broke during our photos. Fortunately I had some time after the photos & before the reception so I sewed the loop back in place, but even still, the bustle kept coming down. Eventually, I just held the train over my arm. It wasn''t a very elegant solution, but it worked out ok for our casual wedding. Had we done more dancing, I would''ve been annoyed. Another concern with the bustle is that the dress sort of tapers back to the train on the sides so even when the bustle was in place, the sides were longer than the front & back of the dress.

Other than these issues, I LOVED my dress. There are lots of pictures in my wedding thread.

Brightspot,
Funny, I remember talking to you about having problems with my bustle too. I actually had a center loop, and 2 extra side loops, and I STILL had big problems keeping the bustle in place. My dad just ended up tying my train into a knot at the top of the bustle...it was not really pretty, but by that time I stopped caring because at least it stayed up!!

so irishtangerine, hopefully you can come up with a better plan for a bustle than we did!!

ETA: hehe, I just saw that you mentioned in your wedding thread how we talked about bustle issues...it must just be the fabulous chiffon

LOL, rms, I totally remember talking to you about your bustle issues! Finally, I wound up just letting my train out & tossing it over my arm. (The first time I tried this I nearly mooned our guests!

)

I found this bustle picture on the Knot--can''t remember which dress it was, but one of Maggie''s chiffon numbers. Maybe something like this would''ve worked better for our dresses, rms? I wish I''d brought this pic to my seamstress.

Good luck, irishtangerine & let us know what you decide.
