Kay- so I found out last week he has yet one more class to finish before he proposes (I was a bad girl and snooped on the computer... found a file for a ring- but it wouldn''t pull up a picture darn it! It was a cushion/pave though, just what I want!!)- which I thought would happen before we head to a friend''s wedding in early Oct. I had put this as a soft deadline (firm being Dec. 31)- so after pushing I found out he has been looking into ordering, but now with the extra cost of a class he''s moved the timeline to November. I was a bit sad- hoping to plan for something this spring late. My work is quite hectic in summer and fall- so I told him I felt like our timeframe had just moved to ''08. He said... why not start securing a place now? Although this is exciting... do you think it will take some of the fun out of the engagement? Sunkist- I think you had a similar situation... It was so cute though- he was all "I love planning a wedding with you"- last night as we were looking at potential sites on the internet!

I hope your dream ring and the proposal come soon! We didn''t start planning the wedding until the engagement, and we still have plenty of time, but I did have a ton of ideas and a pre-engagement knot bio... It''s so much fun!

Enjoy!

My brother will be proposing to his future fiance in Nov or Dec (after her older sister gets married). But, they have already set the date (7-7-07) and have reserved the church, reception hall, caterer, photographer, and band. Since they''re both in school, they needed to get the majority of the big things planned before school started in August. For them, it''s increased the excitement.

We booked our reception and even rehearasal dinner location months before actually getting engaged. The hotel where we''re holding the reception is sort of "the" wedding place in my hometown area, so it fills up very far in advance... as of April 2006, there were only 2 Saturdays available between May and September of 2007... and only after pulling a few strings with people we know there! So if you know you''re getting engaged and are both in agreement, it just makes sense to start getting things done as soon as possible... have fun!!

Hey Caligal,

My b/f... and i say b/f because we are not engaged yet are getting married on 7/7/07. I dont think it takes any fun out of the engagement since you already know you are getting engaged and besides he can still make it a surprise. I had to start planning b/c time is running short and he loved the idea of getting married on 7/7. and it has been so much fun. the only thing i havent yet reserved or look for it the dress, i refuse to go into a bridal shop without a ring. (feel a little akward doing so) other than that and flowers we pretty much good to go.

Thanks gals!

Hi Caligal! Sounds like you''re headed on the right track already! That''s so exciting that you get to plan for your wedding and look forward to a proposal from your sweetie. We did do it that way as well. We didn''t plan a whole bunch of stuff before the actual engagement, we reserved a time for the ceremony and made plans such as having the reception at home and planned a menu. And of course I''ve been dreaming about this for months so I had a collage of how I wanted the reception to be

I didn''t go dress shopping or any stuff like that before he proposed. I almost did! But now I''m glad I didn''t, because that did reserve the fun stuff to go along with the excitement of becoming engaged.

So enjoy it Caligal! This is all a process anyway, and in the end you''ll be engaged and then married and that''s going to make you the happiest. That''s what I''m doing now, and it feels great!
