that''s sad.

i am so glad we don''t have any flights planned for the rest of this year, we were considering going to visit greg''s family in the east coast but now i don''t feel like flying at all.

That is sad. My best friend and MOH is middle-eastern, and her father is an international marketing consultant who flies around the world regularly. I hate that they are now profiled as potential terrorists and people to be suspicious of. Yet if I were on that British plane, and rumors were flying about those two men, I have no idea what I would have done. It is one thing to say "people are so horrible, jumping to conclusions" in retrospect, knowing the men were cleared... but it is a very different thing to sit there in active fear for the lives of your spouse and children and make a decision to stay on the plane. Like Mara, I''m just glad I''m not flying anywhere in the near future.

Under the current circumstances, it''s understandable. It''s hard to blame people for being afraid--and it''s not like the men were assaulted.

It''s not a pleasant state of affairs, but the terrorists are ultimately to blame for this.

I had to fly the evening of the day that the story broke, and I was terrified to go, especially when we pulled up to the San Diego airport and there were a zillion police cars lined up at the terminal! The security was tight, and they took my favorite lip gloss and my mini-mascara, but let me keep my anti-histamine eyedrops...but it all went fairly quickly and smoothly.

Amazingly, my flight was still overbooked and they were looking for people to take flight coupons!

All in all, I was impressed with everything and decided that it might actually be a good time to fly...because security is so serious!

I should probably add that my Dr. prescribed me some Xanax a few hours before I had to leave!

''Passengers noticed that, despite the heat, the pair were wearing leather jackets and thick jumpers and were regularly checking their watches. ''
