Would anyone know if it is possible to resize a pave diamond eternity setting?

I am debating laying several bands of pave diamonds 3/4 of the way around the ring instead of fully, for fear that, should I ever need to, I won''t be able to resize the ring.

I would prefer to lay the diamonds all the way around, but would choose not to, if doing so would make for problems later on.

Is it even possible to do this type of work (or would I have to look into buying a new setting at that time)? Wouldn''t the pave diamonds start to "pop" out of place if the ring was stretched too much?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Robert--It may be easier to keep your posts on the same subject in the same thread so that people can only refer to one post....as I noted in the other thread, anything is possible, but yes the diamonds would have to be re-set again...so it is alot of work and there is no simple way around it.

Tried to do this myself with a pave ring--like Mara said, it is labor intensive--basically, remaking ring. See if jeweler offers "trade up" and so if there is a problem, you get new piece, perhaps slightly bigger/better.

I have also seen very nice pave bands that stretch across the finger so they look like eternity bands but are more like regular rings and can be resized as such.

PS I personally had problems with pave eternity band with stones popping out in the "grip" of the ring, like if I grabbed soemhting too hard & wasn't careful ...I may be hard on my rings though. I traded it in and got a single row round style, shared prongs, which holds up much better. 10 pt stones, total weight 2.4 ct.

Jennifer this is exactly what our jeweler wanted to prevent..so he suggested that we not do pave and instead do prong-set stones. So we did. For all intents and visual purposes, its like pave...but it is much more safe and I can bang it around and not worry. Each stone is held by 4 prongs, stones are .03c each, 24 of them around the ring. Resizing would be a pain...hopefully it won't be necessary. But we love it! And while I love that pave brick road of baby stones, it feels better to know that my small stones are safe in small prongs.

That's exactly how I felt--I love the "sky of twinkling diamonds" affect of pave but in a ring it can be problematic. Thank God I have a jeweler I can trust--he is so patient and lets me return stuff, even months later (I guess since I probably paid for his house with my jewelry over the years, he'd better

I'd love to see a picture of your ring--sounds like how I had my original engagement set redone....I had 16 .08 side stones from both an original setting and matching 14K wedding band reset into one platinum ring with the 1ct stone in the center in the "Y" prong style ...it's like pave with prongs, set low into the band. I feel very secure.

I have to figure out how to use my digital camera and get pics into my notes....I love diamonds and these forums are great--at this point, no one in my family or among my friends wants to hear about diamonds anymore!
