Peach Spinel/Sapphire for E-Ring

Thanks again to everyone who responded to my Grey Spinel post a week or so ago...apparently they're in high demand now & really hard to find (so more $$ than originally expected), lucky for me, I happened to try on a morganite ring over the weekend (8x8 cushion cut in a halo setting) and fell in LOVE. But I don't want morganite because it's a brittle stone, so I'd love to find a spinel/sapphire the same color as morganite (which I know takes me into the Padparadscha color realm - apparently Padparadscha translated means $$$).

I've searched pretty much every website/etsy vendor/ebay seller looking for a 9x9 (thought the 8x8 was a bit small) cushion cut peach/pink spinel or (not crazy expensive) sapphire. Ideally we'd like to spend no more than $5k on a stone (I know, way more than a spinel should run for that size, but probably not enough for a sapphire), and I wanted to see if anyone here could help point me in a direction of something that's already cut and out there or to someone who may have inventory that they know of that isn't posted.

Thank you all again for your help!

Here's probably the closest thing I can find: http://www.litnon.com/index.php?page=viewgem&id=10915
2.61 carats
9.0 x 7.2 x 4.35mm
Untreated
AGL gem brief
$3,390

If the above one doesn't do it for you, then my honest thoughts are to look for something that's more on the pale side and not worry how included it is. I'll keep an eye out.

Do you like the paler hue? If so, a light peach sapphire should be in budget. And are you definitely set on a cushion, or is an oval a possibility? I know when I was looking for one there were many more available in ovals.

also- check with Julia B on Etsy- she tends to get lots of spinel and sapphires in those colors and she's very sweet

Jeff at Earth's Treasury has put up quite a few new pink stones over the last couple of days (I've been stalking his site :) ) Though I have a feeling most are going to be too small for what you are looking for. Not sure how flexible you are on shape and cut. A sapphire of that size is also going to be quite a jump in price as well I'd imagine.

I was wondering this as well. I'd seen a lovely oval peach on Jeff White's website. Albeit probably too small for the OP's wants.

Gem ID:SAP208
Origin:Sri Lanka
Weight:1.74 ct.
Size:5.86 x 8.18 mm
Clarity:VS (what does this mean?)
Treatments:None (unheated). AGL report provided.
Price:$1,880.00
Comments:This is one of the most unusual sapphire colors I've had in recent years. It is a very pretty peach (yellowish-orange) in indoor lighting, shifting a bit more to the yellow side in natural light. I've seen very few with this particular hue before.

I looked at that one & thought it might be a little pale (it will be set in white gold, so it won't be picking up pink from a rose gold setting) and I was worried it wouldn't really have that small pop of color against a halo.

apparently my post with colors didn't post. grrrrrr....

below are pics similar to what I'm looking for color wise...peachy/pink. I'm 99% sure the color isn't a true Padparadscha (from the limited internet research I've done, so please correct me if I'm wrong).

apparently those won't post a decent size, so I'll try a link & hopefully it posts this time?

I've seen sapphires with that color, and sometimes they will turn a little brown in some light.

I'd check out GemFix if you haven't already. They usually have quite a few in that color, but I'm not sure they'll be large enough.

There are some peachy garnets on precisiongem's website. They may be more brown in some lighting though, but garnets are super sparkly and pretty durable IMO, despite their hardness of 7. It's just another option to think about.
