Pear Halo Re-make

Have you ever had a ring made and it just didn''t make your heart sing? I bought a 1.01ct pear shape (I colour, SI2, strong blue fluor) and spent AGES agonising over a setting. I decided to go for a halo with some great design-work under the head. The CADs went back and forth, the ring was re-designed a couple of times and then at last it arrived. Whilst I liked the look (very much) it didn''t make me go "OMG WOW". It was an "oh, it''s a nice ring" sort of feeling. I also didn''t particularly like the shape of the halo and felt it was too short and fat for the stone. The symmetry just seemed a bit "off" and didn''t do it justice BUT I decided to live with it ....... until ........

I was visiting a friend who''s a jeweller and he showed me a 1.65ct pear that he had just set with pear sides. I never thought that the look would suit me but the ring was jaw droppingly gawjus! I tried it on (fatal mistake) and my heart missed a beat! I died and went straight to heaven! After several hours of persuasion on my part, he agreed to take his centre stone out, sell me the setting and adjust it to fit my pear!

What a difference! I ADORE ADORE ADORE my "new" ring! I haven''t taken it off yet. Surprisingly, the pear looks bigger, whiter (and it certainly wasn''t shabby before!) and sparkles like mad. As a bonus, I now have an empty halo setting just begging for a new centre stone

Can you see the fluor? Mmmmmmm scrumptious! This was taken inside in dim lighting with absolutely no blue to reflect into it.
