Hello pearl lovers!,
ive been looking for a jewelry gift for my sister.Recently I came across a strand that was to good a price to pass up.The strand is 24 inches long and is made up of white chinese freshwater pear shaped baroque pearls that are about 10mm each in size. The nacre isnt really thick on the pearls but the pink undertones are pleasing enough to make a nice gift.My question...would you present them as a traditional 24 inch knotted strand and suggest that she can have them broken up into a choker ,bracelet,or drop earring set or create the set first.I dont want to ask her and spoil a suprise. What would be the more popular gift...a set that may need a particular dressy occasion for wear or a strand that can be mixed with chains or other jewelry and worn casual or dressy.ALL opinions are welcome!

if I were your sister... I would love a set, this way, you can have matching pieces to wear if she wanted to or just earrings or just necklace or necklace and earrings or bracelet too

possibilities are endless

, but thats just me... You know your sister best, does she like "sets?"

Jewelerman, I have "seen" from the Pearl Outlet that there is something available called a mystery clasp. It has male and female ends that are drilled into certain pearls that allow a person to wear a strand full length or break it into multiple lengths such as a necklace and bracelet.

I did a quick google and could not find any for sale but Pearl Outlet may have some they would sell you. You would want to make sure that whoever did the restringing for you is knowledgable on how to work with the clasps.

This may not help you in your decision but I wanted to offer a different option.

The mystery clasp is a good idea, but it might be hard to find one that matches the baroque pearls.

Jewelerman, what length necklaces does your sister tend to wear? I never wear any that fall below my bustline--they just don''t look good on me--so if it were for me, I would prefer the set. But if your sister generally likes longer necklaces, she would probably love the luxurious single necklace.

Similarly, some people just don''t like chokers--they don''t find them comfortable or flattering. Does your sister ever wear choker-length necklaces?
