Hello everyone, I am in the market for a pair of white 8mm round pearl stud earrings. This will actually be my first pair. I am not looking to spend a lot of money. Preferably $100-$200. I don''t need anything high end, just a nice quality pearl that I can wear and not worry about the post falling off. I most likely will only wear them once a week or so. I have had many a cheap fake pairs and am done with it. Does anyone have any recommendations?

What size are you thinking?

Here are are a bunch in your price range:

ETA oops ok I see the size... one min

swedish bean, thanks for your help. What is your take on the freshadama vs. the Akoya? I have done some research on it (not tons!) and I am feeling like the freshadama would work out just fine for me as I am not a Pearl conneusseur (sp?) However I am more concerned about the post and back. My mom has a pair and the post is all bent up and is in terrible shape. Do you think the post and back will be considerably different between the freshadama and the akoya? Also, I am thinking the 7.5-8 size. Do you think that is a good size for casual and dressy wear? You are funny about the dangles too! i am actually in the process of picking out a Valentine''s present and I have already picked out a burberry scarf so it would actually work out nice if I end up with the Freshadamas and save a little money due to the scarf purchase!!! Here is the link to the scarf. I actually think the pearl studs and the scarf will look great together!!

I was just looking at pearl paradise and i noticed that the 7.5-8 freshadamas look on the pink side while the 8.5-9 look more golden. Why would there be a diff due to size? Do you think I''ll even notice the pink? The akoyas seem to be more white is that usually the case?

You can actually order them in the overtone that you are looking for. I highly recommend calling PP and speaking to someone that can actually pull a few pairs of pearls and stare you in the right direction. They are known for their personal service that way!!

Thanks as I am a pearl novice! would you recommend to go with a rose overtone or a golden, warm overtone? Is one valued higher than the other? Or just a personal preference? I am a blonde with fair skin and pinkish undertones. I think I am going to go with the white gold. What do you think about the posts and backs on the freshadama vs.the akoya?

I can't imagine that there would be a difference in quality between the Freshadama and Akoya earring posts and backs, but as suggested earlier, a conversation with Pearl Paradise should confirm that. If you are interested in something other than the standard post/back (eg screwbacks, thicker post, more substantial back, etc.), you should ask about it - they often can accomodate special requests like that.

ETA: I like the Burberry scarf you picked out - pearls will look wonderful with it, and I hope you post a shot of them together after Valentine's Day!

You know, I don't own any Akoya/s, but I believe I saw someone say that the really nice Freshadamas can hold their own against them. I just don't know if the difference in that size of pearl is going to be seen that well, so it's really up to what you'd like to own, as well :)

As far as what celletani said and CCN, I agree with everything they said! I'm still learning about pearls, but am quite facinated with them! Please come back and post pictures and tell us about what you've decided to go with.

Oh, and while I believe that the Freshadamas come mostly in a silver or rose tone, if you are looking for something a little ivory they do have those. It's funny because I had called them and asked them pretty much exactly that question as I'm eventually looking for something to match my ivory wedding dress. But make sure you call so someone can help you directly!

Good luck

ETA as far as the post color, if you do an ivory, I'd say go with yellow gold, but it's really up to what you prefer!!! I have posts that are white gold, and some yellow gold. Since they are studs, I wouldn't worry too much about which is going to compliment the pearl more, as you won't really see the metal. So, if you mostly wear white gold, perhaps do that, and if you wear mostly yellow gold, do that..??? No idea. Either way, they are sure to look great.

Thanks everyone for your help! I am going to call PP just like you recommended. I am also going to ask about size of the freshadama studs. They are showing 7.5-8 or 8.5-9, but I am actually thinking of requesting a 8-8.5 size. I don''t want them to be too small or too big, but I want them to be noticeable but still ok for casual wear. I am 30, about 5''7", size 12 so I don''t want anything too small know what I mean? Any recommendations on size? Also, i am thinking of a silver/rose overtone, does anyone have any pics of something like that? I just don''t want them to come up too pink. I''d like them to be pretty white with a slight pink hue. Sorry for the obsessiveness!!!! ANd thanks again for your help!

I ordered a pair of 7.5-8 freshadamas from Pearl Paradise in the Silver rose! They are going to be sending them out next week as jeremy is getting some more in and wanted me to wait for the new shipment! I can''t wait. i will post pics! Thanks everyone for your help!

Can''t wait to see them. Jeremy and PP are just fantastic!
