Hello fellow Aussies! Arunajane - are you here?

SO and I are going to be in Perth for 3 nights at the end on this month and want some advice for somewhere nice to stay in the city. Not super expensive, but nothing old and crummy either. I know I sound like a spoiled brat, but min 4 stars.

I am thinking the following places

Sheraton
Mantra (Saville Suites)
Chifley on the Terrace

What do you guys think? These are only $40 difference per night, so I was thinking hey, maybe the Sheraton, but I am wondering if it''s going to be old?

Any other suggestions would be great! I know there are others, but these seem reasonable in price, and I would like a king size bed (it''s the little things in life......)

About a week later, we will be back for one night only, and I really want to stay somewhere nice for that last night - I am thinking the casino complex? Apparently have a nice swish hotel there?

Ta!

You rang...?
ha ha. Honey out of the three you mentioned, I am only familiar with the Sheraton. I had a party there about, oh ..6 years ago! But it was really nice and enjoys a good reputation. It also is supposed to have a decent restaurant. It is right in the heart of the city, so quite convenient I should think.
I will be happy to look into the other two for you - do you mind to post how much you want to spend? If not, that ok I''ll try to guess

As far as somewhere nice, the Burswood is supposed to be very nice. I also stayed there a couple years ago but can''t really remember the decor, lol!
The Rendevous Observation City Rise has a good rep for somewhere nice - although it is on the beach at Scarborough which is about 20mins from the city, so not sure if it''ll be suitable?

I''ll look into other options for you and get back..

May i also suggest tripadvisor.com ? I have found that website amazingly helpful for picking hotels.

Hi

I am thinking of spending around the $170 - 200 mark per night. The Sheraton is $205 which is fine, and the other two are $170. I am kinda thinking if the other two are ok, I will save the money and splurge for the single night at the end of the week. I don''t really have a budget on that night, it''s the last night of holidays, so we can spend more.

You are actually the second person to recommend the Rendevous, I liked the look of that, but being directly opposite the ocean, I might lose out to the surfboard in the attention stakes from SO!!

Hi IndGal! I have checked out this site, it's pretty amazing. These are in the top 15 our of 66 I guess, but I always wonder if one bad experience can tarnish the reputation of a hotel, there are some varying opinions. But I agree, it's a fantastic resource.
Thanks for the info

Hey Honey,
I had a bit of a research but to be honest I think you have made some nice choices already.
The other one I am thinking is Hotel Northbridge, which I''ve heard good things about too - supposed to be nice for romantics! http://www.hotelnorthbridge.com.au/

Other than that, I think the first 3 you mentioned should be good choices. The Mantra is next to my work so I will have a quick look at it this week and tell get back. Haven''t heard of the Chifley but looks nice. These two are in better location as far as public transport goes than the sheraton, as are a couple blocks from the city train station- not sure if thats important to you.?

Hey Arjunajane! Thanks for that.

I spoke to my sister in law and she is going to meet up with us for one night with her three kids, so we are going to stay at the Chifley, They are being taken over by the Somerset group, and have some great specials, so I think that''s the one!

Looking forward to it now!

Any suggestions for must do''s while we are there?
