I’ve been seeing an uptick of OEC searches lately and thought it’d be fun to have a thread dedicated to close-ups of OEC facet patterns.

Some general guidelines:
  • Please share both a macro shot of the facet pattern and a regular shot, so we can see how it looks when it’s not super zoomed in
  • Share as many specs as you have
  • Antique diamonds only please! Newly cut OECs are a different flavor.

The white diamond is named Rachel, and she’s a super spready 2.76 M SI1 OEC, faint brown modifier and strong blue fluorescence.

The yellow is Samantha, 3.74 fancy yellow VS1.IMG_5040.jpeg

I don't know if this shows the petals that I see in real life. My sweet little butterball, a 1.73 carat, N colored VS OEC. She's a different flavor with a teeny, tiny table. I don't know if it's because of the tiny table but she looks good even when dirty. Much more forgiving of hand cream, skin oils than my other diamonds.

I want to play but feel embarrassed to admit that I don't have the specs of the stones.

It's my favorite arm candy, so far.

I'm going to spend some quality time with that 3-stone ring and will report back.

1.89 ct k/l SI1. Early American Cut, circa 1920s.

These three are KL VS2-SI2. All about .52ct. Bridging that transition from OMC to OEC, likely circa 1880-1900.

Three classic OECs with very nice round shape petals under the table. KL VA2/SI1, half carat each. Probably cut circa 1900-1920.

I have to use a loupe in order to see the petals, however, they are there in my 0.86ct OEC from I&R as seen in the vendor's photo:
