Searching for photographers, got referrals and have been scouring the websites.
Now getting ready to choose 4-5 to go visit,
I''m armed with the typical checklist of questions, and future hubby has added some good ones,

When we''re interviewing them do I just tell them at the end that- "We''ll let you know...." "We''ve just started looking..."

And am I obligated to contact them after meeting them even if we are not going to use them?

sorry for the dumb questions, i''m sure they won''t be the last ones

this is the last vendor i''m going to stress over- but it''s my most important one...acchhh.

i went thru the same thing. i think yes and no. if you just need general info then no need. but if you show some genuine interest and this person gets excited..then I would say yes. just out of courtesy. sometimes i think you can use it to your advantage cause if someone wants your business, they may throw in some perks or give you a deal on a package.

I just contacted them via email first, and said that I was looking for a photographer that fit with us and what we wanted...I'd like to schedule a meeting to check out some of their work and talk about what our thoughts were for the wedding. In the meantime I also got rough range of pricing to determine if they were even in our budget and gave our date options to see if they were even available. I did not want to meet with a bunch of photographers, so I was trying to be discriminating up front by doing screening of my own via email and checking out their online portfolios to get a 'vibe' first. I let them know up front that we were trying to find the best fit.

We clicked with our guy, he was just perfect for us. He was Greg's age, used to be in tech but turned photographer when the downturn happened, it had been a hobby before and now it was his profession. We saw his portfolio, chatted about a bunch of non-professional stuff, it just FIT. He ended up coming with us to Kauai to shoot our wedding and he was wonderful! Now he is engaged and getting married next year!

Anyway, for me with something like the photographer it was really important that their personality fit with ours and that they could understand our 'vision' and what we wanted and that they had shot more unusual weddings and also did not just do 'traditional' photography. I love artistic types of photography. The photography was probably the most fun for us both...good luck!
