I found some pics online of the dress with silver beading/embroidery--the one I''m looking at is gold beading/embroidery which is a little richer and antiquey looking. It''s strapless btw (the straps you see are just holding the dress up).

I went to a consignment shop in Chicago and found the dress at about half price. :) It had been previously worn by another bride who was exactly my height and size, so it''s practically good to go without any alterations. What do you think? It''s super flattering on me and I really want a "princess" dress, but I''m going to try to squeeze in another day of dress shopping on Monday (they''re holding the dress until Tuesday).

And here''s one of the detail.

Ooh, do you have a Reem too? I''d love to see pics!

It''s gorgeous, at a great price and it fits!!! What more could you ask for?? But better to see what else is out there to be sure. Glad they are holding it for you.

yes!! it's reem enchanting. look here.

I think you should DEFINITELY buy that gown. Right after you negotiate the price down a wee bit and get them to throw things in for you. LOL. Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. But buy that sucker.

Jcrow, I love your dress! Very elegant. I''m 5''1'''', so it sounds like we have a similar body-type. Our dress are somewhat similar too actually, but you have that gorgeous train.

really??

i could have easily gotten *your* gown had i tried it on somewhere. have you checked out the reem bio?

this one is ivy, right?

opps. double post.

Oh yes, the Reem bio is great! I''m going to try on a few more high-end dresses--including Reems--before I commit to this one, so I''ll report back.

Really what? :)

Yep, it's Ivy. The people at the store didn't know, so I had to look through all of them to figure it out! BTW, do you know how much Reems generally run?

really, we are the same size, height.

i would say $3000 and up.
maybe $4000 and up. it really depends.
you could always call a saks to find out what Ivy runs.

Ivy is part of Reem''s "Rose Collection". The fabric is a silk-blend (different than her other gowns) so they''re consequently cheaper. I tried on Magnolia, similar to Ivy and it ran right at $3500 new. Reem''s higher-end gowns are at $4000+ (especially the ballgowns at somewhere around $5k).

Oh wow, those prices get pretty nuts! Ivy at the consignment store is $1800, so I feel very lucky!

i''d try to talk them down to $1500 and seal the deal. that said, if you are hesitant, look around. there are lots of options out there.

If it''s in wonderful condition, I''d recommend you snatch it up!

Ebree- where can you find out the dress fabric info?

That is a stunning dress. Seems a no brainer, certainly see what is out there other than this, but hey, you cannot go wrong. Why spend thousands if you do not need too? If you love it and it looks great, it was probably meant to be.

To be honest, I don''t know. I found out about the Rose Collection through the boutique I tried Magnolia on at and it was verified on theknot.com by several knotties who were also interested in Reems.

oh ok thanks.

I just found pics of a bride who wore Reem Acra Ivy: http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.htm?profilename=Wild.Irish.Rose. And this is a picture of one of my other favorite dresses (which is just under 5K). I must say, the pull-ups look very strange and overall it looks pretty horrible on the model! Unfortunately I couldn''t find any other pics of it.

Would it be crazy to get a pink bow/sash put on my dress, a la Monique Lhullier (sp?)? Here are some pics of what I'm talking about. Perhaps I could put it between the top and bottom embroidery? It would probably look bad because the dress already has a defined waist, but I'm such a girly-girl it totally appeals to me.

I love the dresss.. Its a gorgeous princess gown! but as for the pink bow.. I don''t think it would look right.. I mean by all means.. give it a try.. but I think that dress stands on its own..

I think you could get away with the pink bow on a more simple gown, but on one with beading/embroidery? Tricky. See how it looks, though, you never know.

If you really wanted a pink sash, one would look better with a gown like this:

Watters Silk Shantung
