Hi everyone!!!

My sister and I went for my hair and makeup trial today - I know it is early but I couldn''t book her for my date until the trial (which makes sense actually!)

So I have a few pics - and a few questions!

I wanted something elegant etc that was definitely up (don''t want to cover the back of my dress!) - so basically, it is along the lines of what I wanted.

Just wondering what everyone thinks and whether or not I should make changes to it.

Thanks!

i absolutely love it! i think it''s a classic style that will look fabulous no matter which angle you see it, which is important on your wedding day. of course, i am completely biased, as this was pretty much the style i wore too!

I think it''s gorgeous. So elegant. And can I just say that the colour of your hair is delicious? I always wanted hair just like that.

Gorgeous! You have very beautiful hair!

Thanks Jcrow!! I hope I can look as nice as you did at your wedding!!

What do you think of the height of it? I wasn''t sure if it made me look like Reese Witherspoon in "Pleasantville" or something too 50s/60s.

You guys are so quick! Thanks IG!! Its so funny - my hair is a pretty harsh contrast to my skin/eyes, which makes it difficult to work with sometimes, or so I think!

Thanks for the input! :-)

Very pretty hair! I love the way the back is done and it looks great in profile. What does your dress look like? [or did I miss it?]

I''m not so sure about the makeup, though. [Sorry - bad attempt at humor - I''ve had a very trying week and a half!]

Thanks DS! I guess because I couldn''t try it on with my dress, I was unsure about the height/fullness of it. It made me feel kind of...uh...chubby?

But I think with all the pieces together it will be okay...I hope!

I wish I could show you all the makeup - however I''m not sure about showing my mug yet!

I love the dress! I can see the back of the hair and the profile with the dress. It will look fantastic!

The only thing you might consider playing with is the hair that looks like it may be tightly pulled across your forehead [the white "makeup" may be throwing me off!]. I wonder how it would look if you loosened it up or softened it up a bit. I'm not sure how to do that or wheter it is even possible - and if you try it you may not even like it! But, if you are thinking about messing with any component of your updo, only mess with that part because the rest is already perfect.

Hope this helps.

[Edited for clarity - I hope!]

I hear ya on that part - I was considering cutting my bangs though which would ''loosen'' it.

Here''s my inspiration pic. Tell me what you think!

I love, love, love it! I think it will go very well with the feel of your dress (which is GORGEOUS, byt the way). I do like Diamante''s suggestion of going with bangs.. but bangs or no bangs it will look beautifu!

Oh, and I''m planning on going with a style like that too... is your hair really thick? My hair is really fine and I''m worried that an updo like that won''t hold all day...

Thanks MG!! Yep - my hair is super thick. But I think you can get a similar look (maybe just not as BIG) with finer hair - or maybe you could consider extensions/fake hair. I mean, if you were putting it all back it would just add fullness to the bun part.

Just an idea!

I love it! You read my [temporarily inarticulate] mind. Go for it! I think that the bangs would look great on you!

Do you think with my forehead being so...big? it will look okay? I figure with the wedding being in October, if I cut them now they will grow out enough for October if I hate them!

I think it looks really good and I really like height. It softens the hairstyle and it looks great in the pictures. Big time thumbs up here. And also, I think I like it without bangs, but really, I don''t think you could lose either way.

I think that it looks great! I really wouldn''t change anything with it. It will look fab with your dress.

I love it--but it is similar to what I wore, so of course I would love it. I think it''s a good choice. I don''t thing you need bangs at all. Plus, right now, you won''t have to worry an ounce about how your hair looks. If you add the bangs, you may be worried about how they look during pictures and as the night wears on (hair that hangs loose tends to get disheveled). I think it will be fine just like it is. Plus, I think it will be amazing with the dress.

It''s great! Your hair is beautiful! I like it as is, but I think it would look great with bangs, too.

I think it is lovely but is better without bangs. For a number of reasons, I think in general that bangs are kind of a pain but I think your look is more polished as it is. I don''t think the style is "harsh" enough to need softening in the first place.

I showed my FI (is that against some kind of bridal rules?) and he liked it, but said he pictured me having curls down the front or something.

I think he has memories of prom-days when girls had the curled ''tendrils'' hanging in front of their ears?

He did say it was nice but certainly didn''t sound too excited. That isn''t all that abnormal though ahahha.

What about a style like this? Or is smooth style better?

I think it looks really pretty, October!!! I had originally planned to wear my hair like that for my wedding, but last minute (the day of-OMG), I decided to wear my hair half up. So, just be open to anything, its not like you have to make any final decisions at this point...you can always go for another trial, right?

Thanks Dani...that is a good point. I guess bottom line is that I like the woman who did it - so I can go for another trial with her and try out another option.

Maybe I''ll do that - I mean - I think I like what she did - but I am the queen of second guessing (even my dress yikes!)

I think it''s pretty, and I like the smooth look from the front. I also like how it is low on your head, so the bun-type part is right at the base of your neck.

I think a half-up style would look really nice with your dress though, since the back is soo open some hair down your back would look great, and it wouldn''t cover up an inch of the dress!

You think so? My concern with that would be the dark blob of hair hanging across my pale back...that it would break the line too much or something.

Hmm...gives me something to think about though! Thanks Karasue!

How well does your hair hold curl? That is something to consider too before you decide on a 1/2 up style, especially given the fact that you''ll be moving around/dancing/whatever else throughout the night. I was originally going to do 1/2 up, but at the last min, I went with all up simply because I was afraid of it looking gross by the end of the night, especially since the weather forecast was predicting rain. My hair does this natural wave thing when it is humid out, BUT it will not hold any sort of stylized curl at all if it rains. It wants to do its own thing instead. Anyway, the weather is what sealed the deal for me. Luckily the rain let up from the start of the ceremony until about 5 seconds after we arrived at the reception.

LOVE IT. And I do think you would look great with bangs too.
I personally wouldn''t do any hair down, unless it holds style very well.
