A grandmother''s gift is one of the most precious things you can have. I wore a pearl ring that was a gift from my dearly departed great-aunt (who was like a grandmother to me) for years and I was heartbroken when the pearl was scratched badly I don''t know where. I have bought a lot of jewelry since that time but that modest little pearl was the ring I loved the best.Date: 6/21/2007 12:25:13 PM

Gemnut,
The ruby ring was not something I would have picked for myself. My grandmother selected it for me and it is special for that very reason. I only wear it occasionally. The amethyst was selected during a time when I was working in a CPA firm and wore a lot of more subtle colors. At the time, you didn''t see a lot of dark amethyst out there. However, the peridot was picked out by me for me. I love the color and have received many compliments about the ring. I love emerald cut stones! I would have an emerald cut diamond if I could afford the size I liked.
