I recently purchased a natural .7 light pink pear from Leibish. It is very light pink. So light that in some settings it looks white. I have the opportunity to upgrade it to a .71 fancy light pink but the price is 3 times what I paid. It is hard to decide because I can’t see the fancy light pink in person and it’s difficult to tell from photos (comparison photo of mine and the .71 fancy light pink below). My question is, does anyone have experience with light pink vs fancy light pink diamonds. Is the price jump worth it to you? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The second question I have is in relation to the setting. Originally I just wanted to halo the stone with pink melee and a split shank (like photo one). However, because the stone is so light, it was recommended to me to double halo it, with the inner halo pink and outer halo white (like the attached photo). I am worried the double halo will look too much like a cocktail ring. How much finger coverage would this give for a size 5.5? Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have attached the 4 setting options. Please vote on your favourite!IMG_6050.jpegIMG_6047.jpeg

The fancy is definitely pinker to my eye! It also looks more even in colour whereas the other one has a colourless spot. My motto is if you can buy the nicer item, just go for it.

Is this an engagement ring? Are you adverse to huge rings? I’m probably the wrong person to answer this question (my rings are huge) but since the diamond is very small, I doubt a double halo will make it look huge. It will just be a bit more noticeable that’s all.

What are the measurements of the stones in mm? They are both beautiful but I have to admit my heart beats faster with the more saturated pink. I can’t say whether it is worth 3x more as that’s such a personal decision.

I can’t vote on the halo until I know measurements lol but the smaller the stone to more I would lean towards doubling.

Double halo all the way. I had a ring that had a ~3.3ct centre diamond that was low alphabet yellow (but not fancy yellow) and I had it set with a double halo (yellow on the inside and white on the outside) which still didn’t look out of place or cocktail-y on my size 5.5 finger; and the double halo really made the stone pop and look more yellow!

You could also consider cupping the stone in RG to bring out more pink in the stone, along with the double halos.

Sorry, but I like the stone you already have. I think however you set it, it will be beautiful. You have a small finger.

I assume the comparison photo is taken by the vendor of both stones at the same time? It looks like it, and, to be entirely honest, while the potential upgrade is slightly more saturated, it's so slightly, I don't think it's worth three times the price. That's just.... extremely diminishing results in terms of colour.

Of course, the real question is, is it worth it to you. Will you see a difference that justifies the price you paid? It's also important to consider how much it matters to you to have a higher value diamond.

On the subject of setting it, I agree with the rest that a double halo would definitely not look too big or too cocktail-y. It's a small stone. A double halo would look blingy, but that's about it, and it can totally fit into one's personal daily style. So just go with the design you know you'll love, the one that will make you smile every time you look down at your finger.

It all depends on how important having a "pink diamond" is to you and if you will regret not upgrading in color. If it's just one of many rings, perhaps not. But if this is your star piece, the pink diamond you've been dreaming of, I would say upgrade now because natural pinks are only getting more expensive. I have a .54 ct fancy light pink(round center stone) I bezeled in a DBTY bracelet. In some lighting it's hard to see the pink and I wished I had bought the fancy pink instead many moons ago before the Kimberly closed. (The smaller stones in the bracelet are more saturated but not graded.) Here's a pic.DKJPV19_BRCLT(2019-06-18)-__---3.jpg

Maybe this specific light pink you currently have is not ‘the right’ light pink for you? Not saying you’ll get a light pink that will look more like a fancy light pink - but maybe it’ll be more pleasing to your eye.

Totally agree with Mrs strizzle of where your importance of want is placed. Ultimately What It’ll take to check your box and make you satisfied/happy in the long run. Whether regret will have you redoing the project later on, and how acceptable you are if that or if it’s a one and done and no option to do again type deal.
If double halo ring isn’t your real desire for its overall look - that’s another thing to consider.

And I think even the fancy light pink you pictured will have certain lightings that it will look more white/colorless.
I also do think there’s a line that can get crossed where rose gold and pink melee actually takes away from a light pink diamond.
