Pink Sapphire from NSC

I am looking to buy a pink sapphire from the Natural Sapphire Company, but am not able to go to their show room. I have asked for an AGL report from them for the sapphire and was told that I would have to pay for it myself, but they did give me an estimate of what some of the clarity and color grading would be.

I’m a little hesitant as I’ve ready a lot of mixed reviews on this company and since it is a fair amount of money that we will be spending, and I want to make sure the sapphire is a good one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as to whether or not I should use NSC or if anyone has another company they are aware of that has certified sapphires that would be great too!

It already comes with an AGTA memo which is sufficient for proof of treatment purposes. It has slight zoning though; there is a thin section that has a touch of orange running across the narrower side. It is on the right side of the sapphire in the main picture.

I always think it's so interesting how so many first time posters are considering stones from NSC and come to PS to post about it!

I'll defer to Chrono for her critique of the stone.

NSC is pretty prominent in Google, both in the search results and in the ads, so the explanation could be that simple.

Wholesalers only sell to trade members. To do so otherwise means the vendor really isn't a wholesaler. If you share some details of what you are looking for, others can help point you in the right direction.

We are looking for the same kind of sapphire (but natural and untreated/unheated), doesn't have to be the exact same but that's the idea of what we want. We are open to suggestions!

In case you were considering the Gemfix sapphire, I thought I should come back and add that in speaking with Andrew yesterday about another stone he mentioned that they would be closed for 2 weeks starting on Monday.

Must it be a cushion or are you open to other shapes?
What is the size you are after? 6 ct thereabouts? 11 to 12 mm x 8 to 9 mm?
Light pale pink colouration?
Budget? $15K to $16K?

I would agree with this and wonder if it didn't accidentally get added to the list because it has a name similar to the ebay store run by GemsofThailand? I do think there have been enough controversial threads that I would not put it completely in the category of approved, or vetted and satisfactory, vendors. Should it be taken off?

Highly sensitive and touchy subject which was broached at least once. There are some PSers who've had good experience with NSC and felt attacked when NSC was dropped off the list. In the end, NSC was put back on the list but the caveat is that everyone must still do their homework and review of any vendor they plan to use. There are other vendors who I feel should not be on that list as well but let it go for the same reason.

we are open to other shapes and sizes (3 cts +), we are interested in a pink sapphire (doesn't have to be pale pink), we also like Padparadscha sapphires. Our budget is around $15k-$18k

Untreated with a lab memo from AGL that it is a padparadscha. It has a small window though and I would check to see if it will close in a setting.
