If you want more control over the quality of the stones and would like to pick your earring settings, I would totally ask the NSC about some pink sapphire studs.
Hi sugerplum, While I can not suggest a source for the .33 ct pink sapphire studs you seek. I would like to address pricing of these stones. I my opinion paying several thousand dollars for a pair of 4mm to 4 1/2 mm round pink sapphires is way out of line with what I have seen. Even for the best of the best!
Looking around, the prices seem very outrageous. The NSC would be an ideal choice but the cost of the mountings are very expensive. Maybe ask Whiteflash for a quote. They advertise at being able to get quality color stones. You could also try a pink tourmaline set. These would still be pink but considerably cheaper. I was looking around for a set as a graduation gift but found everything to be too expensive.
For the size you are looking for, it shouldn''t cost more than $100 to several hundred (depending upon the quality). What''s going to cost more is the setting as the prices of metals have gone up. It might be more cost efficient to find an already mounted pair of earrings.
thanks for your replies, everyone. i''ll look into your suggestions.
how do pink sapphires and pink tourmalines differ in color range? i''m looking for a light pink pair so i''m wondering if i''d have more available options with sapphires.
These are double the size of what you are looking for but the colour looks great and it''s already mounted (4th from the bottom of the page). http://www.mineralminers.com/html/spkjlry.stm
6x4 mm ovals (1.2 cttw) for $461.25 in White Gold.
Pink tourmalines cost less but in the size you are looking for, I don''t think there''ll be much cost savings. Also, pink tourmalines tend to brown out in certain lighting conditions whereas pink sapphires tend to stay pink under all lights.
thanks chrono. i definitely want them to stay pink in all different kinds of lighting. i''m looking for a pair of round ones so i can wear them with jackets when i feel like dressing them up.
I recently looked at NSC for a blue pair, and they are outrageously expensive! I could buy a Tiffany pair for what they are charging if I set them in platinum.
Hi
Pink sapphire round in good color and cut 0,30 to 0,35 ct costs approximately 70 USD/carat in Thailand. Fair price for this material stones should be around 200 USD/carat in the US.
Personally, I think NSC''s sapphires are overpriced. How about contacting Wink at www.winkjones.com to find you a pair? He also has affordable Stuller settings in WG.
