Hello, I am new here, and I think this it the best place to ask this question. I guess I don't need an exact place, but I need to know the right words to be able to search and find places that will be able to this for me.

What I need is a place that will allow me to buy gold (in pieces, not in ring forum or anything, like nuggets even lol) and gems and such, that I can give to my girlfriend to later have made into a custom ring of her own design. Like give her (I don't know how much it takes to make a ring) 10 oz of gold on our anniversary, and some on her birthday, and a diamond and some gem stones next occasion. Is this possible?

Thanks.

(P.S. opps I missed the u in buy in the subject lol.)

I would contact your local jeweler for the gold. They can usually buy it for a certain gram weight.

What kinds of stones are you talking about?

you could buy from the natural sapphire company or whiteflash for the stones.

You can buy gold findings in Rio Grande''s catalog. However, most jewelers would insist on purchasing their own gold findings so they know where it came from and they don''t have to worry about impurities from the metal.

Really??!! 10 ounces of gold is roughly 283 grams, and most rings are under 10 grams. In fact, my heaviest ring (and I wear a size 7) is only 7 or 8 grams, so unless your GF has the world''s largest man-hands, that''s definitely more than you need. Don''t get me wrong though, it''s a really lovely idea for your girlfriend, and there are several terrific online sites for well-cut gemstones. Does your GF know much about jewelry, or has she expressed an interest in designing something? I guess I would recommend starting with the gemstones, because there are lots of pre-made setting options out there. Also, even if you''re getting something custom made, some jewelers are particular about using their own gold sources, and they like to know exactly what alloys have been added. You''re definitely on the right track, but with less gold than you thought you needed, it''s even more affordable.
