Hello!

For those who have platinum wedding sets without diamonds, how much damage, if any, does platinum cause rubbing against each other.

Thank you!

I should clarify, without diamonds on the wedding band. I’m looking to add a plain wedding band to my solitaire, just curious how much they rub/cause damage.

Any metal on metal rubbing together will cause scratches on both rings. Platinum is a soft but durable metal that easily scratches. It’s inevitable if you wear two rings together. Certainly less damage than wearing a diamond band that chews up the metal.
Some like the “patina” that scratches create. Or you can have them buffed out.

Platinum will wear itself out over decades rubbing on platinum.
Platinum will wear out other metals very quickly, even over years.

How will silver wear against platinum? I was thinking of wearing a thin silver spacer.

Great question.
Platinum and silver both wear out gold alloys - but my money is platinum will still kill silver and silver is cheap!

That doesn't sound like it would work if I have one gold & one plat ring, then. I considered stainless steel, but imagine it's even harder.
