Thank you for taking the time to compare these two round diamonds: I'm having a hard time with this!

#1: GIA, F, SI2, 1.09ct: 6.65, 6.73. 3.96.... 59.2% depth, 65% table, no Fluo, Polish: very good, symmetry: good ~ price $4200

#2: EGL, G, SI1, 1.02ct: 6.43 - 6.41 x 3.94.... 61.4% depth, 58% table, no Fluo, Polish/symmetry: both Excellent ~ price $4400

I like the GIA cert with the F, but the cut seems poor compared to the EGL G...Also, the SI1 EGL seems much cleaner than the GIA SI2... Any advice or anything else to consider? Thank you!

neither, honestly. With EGL you don't know what you're getting you might be getting a "GIA SI1" or a "GIA I1" - same for colour - there's no accepted standard for correlation.

We would want more info on the GIA to give you a more informed opinion but a 65 table is much larger than I personally would want, though a shallow make like that has the advantage of facing up larger for its weight compared to a "tolk type".

need the exact ct wt to use report check.

this is not a 'well cut' stone by industry and marketing standards. That doesn't mean that most would find it unattractive, it means that it doesn't pass muster by today's RB cut/proportions metrics. If you are looking for a stone that will show big black arrows and high optical symmetry like you see in so many pictures on this board, this is not the stone for you. If your expectations and desires lie elsewhere and once you see the stone you find it pleasing, you have the advantage of being able to make use of an excellent pricepoint.
