Hi,
I’m so glad there are experts on this forum. My husband wants to buy this large round diamond for me for our anniversary. I can’t find much information about this newer cut and wonder if it’s worth the money. (He doesn’t want to tell me how much it costs, but I’m guessing $22-$25K.
Could you please give your opinion on the grading of this Sirius Star 100 diamond? Is it going to be firery? That’s what I like the most about diamonds. Also, what is the value?
Thank you for any/all help. 5646A6EF-8C60-4D9C-9A47-0BD1B9CF1627.jpeg

A diamond typically has 58 facets, so 88 or 100 must be better, right? I don't know, but maybe my eye can ...

'Premium cut' diamonds include: Astor Cut (Blue Nile), Hearts & Arrows (many), Rare Carat Ideal (RareCarat), A Cut Above (WhiteFlash), True Hearts (James Allen), Sirius Star 80/100 (Helzburg, others), Solasfera (Jann Paul), Super Ideal (Brilliance), and others. Vendors use these names to persuade consumers that their diamond are better than everyone else's. You're not buying a name, but a sparkly diamond!

If this was a 58 facet diamond, the table is a bit large, and the pavilion angle is also too big. Since it's a 100 facet diamond, maybe it works, maybe not.

I think you need to see a video of this diamond and look at the ASET report. I'd be concerned about the K color as that's extremely warm - but maybe that's what you want (gold setting maybe?).

Don't buy a pig-in-a-poke. View the diamond and compare to other like diamonds. A choice of one is not a choice. Good luck!

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, Firefinder!
Check out JannPaul: either their 111 facet 10 H&A round or 111 facet 10 H&A Decagon.
Of the two, I would recommend the Decagon, for its slightly more unique shape.
You'd be getting AGS Zero/Ideal in all cut quality categories, to boot.

They also have a very active YouTube channel with plenty of comparison videos and livestreamed diamond setting sessions.

I couldn’t agree more ;)

Have you seen this diamond yourself in person? I'd be concerned about the color. And for me to tell you if the price is fair, we'd really need an accurate price. Do you by chance have a video of the diamond? More facets doesn't mean better, it just means different. Some people like large facets (see my ring), and some might prefer tiny slivers of facets like the one you posted. Many prefer ideal cuts that are in between these two. It's just personal preference.

I found a picture that better shows the facet pattern. I really would have to see the stone or at least a good video.

Looks like one of those cuts that might be interesting in a large size but blurry in a smaller size.

Paul Hung, the Master Designer of the JannPaul White Series and Paul of JP, expounds on the similarities and dissimilarities between Decagon and 10 H&As below:

While having a virtual online session with JP, I was shown a real time side-by-side comparison of Decagon and Round 10 H&A of similar carat weights under various GEMEX lighting scenarios. Quite honestly I could not discern a difference in light performance.
