Hello dear friends,

I have a question regarding the stone in my ring, and I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

First, let me explain that my goal is to identify the stone placed at the center of the ring. I crafted the ring base separately and then set the stone into it. This stone was discovered in Iran.

A specialist conducted a test and told me that the stone is estimated to be 2000 to 3000 years old. However, I am not entirely sure about the accuracy of this claim.

My question is: Based on the patterns or carvings on the stone, could you help me determine which historical era this stone might belong to and its actual age? Additionally, if possible, please help me identify the type of stone.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Best regards!

Welcome! And what a cool ring!

Even if the iconography "matches" the costuming or ethos from a few millennia ago, there is no way to establish that it is not a much more recent "revival" piece -- especially with no context from the original metalwork or from other artifacts found with it.

I am no specialist but it looks too advanced for that age -- I would expect just rough-fashioned gems and not intricate carving on a stone as hard as ruby. That said, I have not done any homework on this. Chemically (as opposed to historically) dating this stone to 1000 BC would not be possible, AFAIK.

At a minimum, I would get a report and see: 1) what it is; and 2) whether it is natural. We can only speculate from a photo or two.
