Well, I asked once before on everyones opinion on a 2.29 caret vs. a 3.04 ct stone and no one replied. I did not realize that I needed to belong to a secret club to get some advise, so I''ll try again, more than 72 folks viewed my message (and no response from any of them)

Well I do not give up -- please I would like some setting ideas, yes I bought a 2+ G VVSI stone but dion''t know how to set it.

Please help.

Hi Jolly,

No secret club to speak of, but congrats on your purchase! Do you have any pics of the stone? specs?

There are a lot of asscher fans on here....so many different possibilities for settings....if you do a search for "asscher" you will come up with a LOT of eye candy and information. In fact, here is one recent thread:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/thanks-for-all-that-made-this-possible-asscher.23556/=

Good luck! Have you checked out www.danielk.net and www.artofplatinum.com ? Those are great jumping off points for a lot of asscher-drooling.

Oooooh, asschers are so yummy ~ congratulations!! Blueroses is right, there are lots of asscher fans around her, me included.

As for the setting, it all just really depends on your personal taste ~ are you looking for something somewhat simple, or something with a lot of flair and drama?

No secret club---- YET!

Hey give us something to go on. DO you want a three stone look, pave, plain setting?
What''s your style?

Hmmm I must not have seen the earlier thread or I would have been sure to answer.
Sorry about that.

settings:
I like thin pave bands with asschers.
and
I would love an open center section setting where the asscher is set on what look like colums with steps off the side towards the shank with rubies or sapphires set in the steps with a suprise ruby/sapphire on the sides of the steps.

There is no club. There are, however, a couple hundred lurkers on this site at any given time, which would easily account for 72 views of your post. And maybe that number includes some regulars who just don''t know what to advise. Don''t take it as an affront or anything.

Nice Ice has some beautiful asscher settings on their site:

Sorry no one posted for you before. I think I was one of the lurkers, but seeing as I am very novice in the art of diamonds, I am not a good one to give advice....yet.

Anyway, Asschers are amazing stones and definitely make a statement, so you want a setting to make a statement as well. Whether it be a plain band which lets the stone take center stage or a pave band to really play up the diamond in the middle.

Sorry again, for not posting earlier...

I personally prefer a simpler setting that doesn''t detract from the stone. Mine is currently in a simple solitaire, my wedding band is channel set rbs.

A look I really like is a solitaire with a skinny pave shank, a la Michael B. Congratulations on your new purchase! Pics when you can.

How could I have missed this thread? Your stone sounds lovely! Here are two of my favorite settings. The first from Leon Mege and the second from Daniel K. Take care and good luck..

Personally, I know very very little about asschers. As a rule, I willl not comment on people''s issues/questions if I cannot provide what I believe to be accurate information/worthwhile advice. I think many people fall into this category when it comes to fancies, which might have accounted for your thread becoming lost quickly.

Can you post pix of your stone? What do you like? Any pics of settings you''re drawn to?

Hi, I will just give my 2 cents for what they are worth....You saw my ring, Blueroses posted the link i her reply and then a few others sent followups of ideas that are still along the same lines.

I will speak from my own experience in looking that the simpler band does the asscher cut more justice. I found my ring through a wholesale jeweler locally that had trays upon trays of empty mountings just waiting for stone. I tried every combination available and still ended up where I am at.

I will say that is not what I imagined for myself, but I couldn''t be happier. IMO the two side stoen over power the center stone as well as anything else that gets to fussy. I am the first one to go for more, bigger, better, you name it, but in this case the simplistic style of the pave woork down the side did it in this case.

Good luck and the best advice is take your stone and drop it into the settings so you can get the full effect on your hand.

Thanks to everyone with the response -- I have been painfully trying to decide the type of setting I want and have gone from the very simple to the art deco 1 + CT setting. What I am need to decide is do I want to wear a wedding band with my ring or am I going to wear the ring by itself.

Thanks for the links --- the only one thing I know, platinum is a must, and since this not an engagement ring but more a celebration of life (and raising 4 girls) it needs to be beautiful.

I wish I knew what I wanted (don''t let the other half know that I can not make a decision !!!!) seriously I want to show off the stone in the best possible way and at mid-age I want some flash !!!

Jolly, it''s ALL about the flash

Honestly, keep looking, try to find settings to try on in person, and you can''t go wrong--asschers are such stunners and it''s going to be gorgeous no matter what you do. I love a simple pave band with one too--like the Daniel K rosebud that lovey posted.

Good luck!!

I was clearing out the pics on my computer this morning and found these two settings that would look incredible with an asscher. I''m not sure who makes the double row pave ring, but the other is richard landi (from the GOG website)

take care!

I am a big asscher fan and I would have it set just like orange_horse_fiance''s! It is drop dead GORGEOUS! That''s just me though. It all depends on your tastes. I agree that you need to drop it into a few settings and see how it looks on your hand. Good luck and have fun with it!
