PLEASE HELP, did I choose wrong?

Hi I purchased a diamond yesterday on Blue Nile before knowing what the HCA was and now I'm worried I made the wrong choice. The diamond scored a 5.2 so a went back online to see if I could find something betters, I found one in my price range that scored a 1 the only difference I see is that the clarity is SI1 vs VS2 of my original choice. I think my original pick looks better in the picture but I'm no expert! My original choice had medium blue florescence while this one has strong blue. The color of both are K (setting in yellow gold) so I figured the florescence would be a positive. Can you please help me determine what I should do? Switch it out or stick with the original??

HCA of 5.2 sounds particularly bad. Whilst I’m not part of the ‘super ideal’ brigade and find stones with other proportions beautiful, 5.2 just sounds really dodgy. Slightly off topic, are you happy with the tint? As per the videos, K is pretty tinted. The strong fluorescence in the second diamond should help mask it in some lights, though.

Do you think the other "new" option is better? That one scored a 1 on the HCA. I'm ok with the tint, I've watched videos of K diamonds and don't mind and honestly can't tell much of a difference from the top view. I'm also going with yellow gold setting which I've heard compliments the color

I'm particularly picky about diamond specs, so I'd keep looking... Personally I wouldn't consider any HCA larger than 2, but it really comes down to what you want out of the 4c - my current guess is that it's carat, cut, clarity, color for you?

The "new" option scored a 1 on the HCA, still not a contender? Yeah carat is #1, beyond that I just want it to have fire/sparkle and be eye clean.

Well, the HCA is meant to be used as a rejection tool, so I'd first reject anything > 2, and then look at other specs. Of course, the downside to this method is that it's very time consuming and it may not be for everyone. You'd need to look at scope images of the "new diamond" to confirm its light performance.

When I was searching, I thought a lot about filters -- price, carat, clarity, table %, depth %, fluorescence and the like, to really narrow down the selection process. I ended up with about 15 diamonds out of 60.

I definitely wouldn't buy the 1st one (the original). The 2nd one is much better, but as others have said K is visibly tinted. Is this for you, or for your GF/future fiance? If yes, you need to be 100% that she is ok with a K color before buying one.

It's for me and I'm ok with the tint. My main concern is carat and beyond that I'm just looking for eye clean and something with fire. Do you think the new will deliver on that?

Excellent. As long as it's for you then no worries if you are good with the color. I personally love warm stones. Yes, I think the 2nd one (new one) will deliver on those things.

Yeah I like the added character and with the yellow gold solitaire setting I think it will compliment it nicely. Thank you for your help!
