I can't decide which one to choose. I love them both but can only have budget to buy one. Which one should be better value for the money considering certificate, color, enhancement. I have summarized the details as follows:

1. Pear shaped Colombian Emerald 1.94 carat, GRS certified, vivid green, insignificant oil : Price is about $2600 (loose stone)

2. Octagon cut Colombian emerald 2.24 carat, GIL ( Gemological international laboratories) certified, green color, minor oil : Price is about $1800 (loose stone)

I have attached pictures to give you an idea how they look but obviously it's quite tricky to capture them accurately. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum, @kuljira!! Just based on the information you've provided and the photos, I would go with the pear. :kiss2: So unusual to see saturated Colombian material certified insignificant oil. It also appears to lean more blue, which I personally like. I've never heard of the octagonal stone's lab, so that would be a negative for me as well. Good luck!

Thank you. I'm leaning toward the pear too. I love the pear shape and the intensity of the color and ceritified by a more reputable lab. It's a bit more expensive but I guess it should be worth it.

Indeed! And if the pear is as fine as GRS says, that $2,600 price is crazy low!! Happy shopping. :cool2:

Due to the difficulty lining up everyone's notions of insignificant oil, and the problems with the fact that the oil may contain something like green dye (so one insignificantly oiled stone is not = in treatment to another insignificantly oiled stone) you should probably just go with the GRS certified stone. Be sure to check the table for cracks, and the point of the pear for any damage.

I'll make sure to check for cracks more carefully. I'm still new to Emerald and gemstones. There are a lot to consider sometimes I forgot to check a lot of things. Thanks a lot.
