Hello CS experts
I have been looking either purchase a large sapphire briolette pendant or have one custom made. I finally decided to purchase a strand of substantial sized briolettes that I have been lusting over for few years now. Surprisingly they were still available.
I just received them yesterday and I love the sizes and colors of these briolettes, especially couple of them are the exact colors I was looking for. The problem is these stones appearance don't look "Wow!" to me.
The reason is they don't look lustrous like the briolettes on my earrings. Though I can see inclusions and silks in mine and also in these new briolettes, I'm sure they are heat treated and I'm perfectly fine with that. I had my earrings for few years now and have worn them frequently and don't really "baby" them yet they still look lustrous and I can't find any scratches or nicks on them.
These new briolettes however have "abrasions" and little nicks all over the junctions between the facets. I believe this is the reason they don't look as "lustrous" as they should. Is this a correct assumption??
I thought sapphires are very very durable then why every single ones of these stones have abrasions and even couple nicks in them. The seller told me these were old stock. Does durability depends on the type of heat treatment?
The seller is lovely and trustworthy and does offer a good return policy but I really prefer to keep them if I could find some one who can advise me if these can be polished or even recut? Can briolettes be recut? Any lapis for CS briolette you would recommend?
