Hi,
I am in australia and have been searching on loosegrowndiamond on the recommendations of the experts here, and I am now confused as what to buy as all seem so good price wise

I want something around the 900 USD mark as the dollar for us in Australia with conversion we are feeling it,

stats

I just want it to be white and sparkle it's butt off

colour e to f
VS2 is fine
size 3 to 3.50 don't want to go any bigger really

I already have a marquise 3 carat lab CVD colour f VS1 and I love it, but I feel I over paid via a jeweller here in australia, so want to source myself this time to save this happending again to me

thanks any help would so be appreicated

For that price, you need to sort through loads and loads of lower quality. CVD stones. There weren’t any HPHT that I could find.

The following isn’t ideal for a few reasons. A touch of graining and slight cut imprecision. 3.08 E VVS2 $824

But the price and size are right and the overall cut is solid.

EDIT: i’m having trouble adding the link. For reference, it’s LG677545528

@DejaWiz will likely find something way better. But I wanted to show you what you’re looking for. Crisp arrows and symmetry on the front view. If you find some contenders, we can evaluate for graining and blue nuance and pavilion twist and the like.

Good luck!

Hi Thank you,

is it worth me looking at Sl1's I have found this one, its listed as H&A
Report number / LG602342122

I have an SI1 like that and it’s completely eye clean, so I’m all for eye clean SI1’s.

That being said, this one seems to have a grey tinge in addition to some cut issues and a tiny bit of graining. Personally, I’ll overlook at the latter two depending on the price point, but I would never want someone to own a grey stone.

Maybe another PSer can weigh in on my grey call? @DejaWiz? My eyes are still learning lots!

Dark lighting/post-processing...I think it leans the typical CVD brownish based on what I am seeing out at the edges of the crown and girdle from the side view.

Yes, brown tinge! I wasn’t sure what I was seeing. Thx @DejaWiz!

@DejaWiz what do you think of this? Is someone wearing a brown shirt? I admit I’m doing this on my phone while waiting for ppl, so I didn’t do a full PS scrutinizing pass.

F SI1 3.15 $900

Definitely looks like some environmental reflection...from the side profile I see a hint of CVD brownish/yellowish, quite normal looking - looks like a great option and potentially very clean CVD!

Hi both

Should I be looking at HPHT method instead are these better stones?

Hello, Bellarose100!
Ideally, yes...but clean HPHT diamonds that are exceptionally well cut and proportioned come with quite a bit of a price premium over CVD. It may be a difficult task to find a worthy HPHT that meets your purchase criteria.

When I searched for HPHT, there was nothing in your $900 price range.

Hi both
Thanks for getting back to me I so
Appreciate your help
What would I need to lift my budget to do you think realistically

I just don’t want to be ripped off by an Australian jeweller want to cut out the middle man as you say
Thanks so much

If you need to buy right now, then USD$1700-2200 will get you a very well cut and proportioned clean HPHT diamond 3.0-3.1 carats D VS+ diamond.
If you are able to wait maybe one to three weeks to see if supply builds back up and prices potentially drop a little bit since the Valentine's Day rush just ended, then maybe consider doing that.

Thanks so so much ok I will wait a couple weeks to re visit this
And keep reading all the other stories on here it’s so much fun
I’m totally ok to drop colour and clarity down but cut and sparkle is everything to me

Hi Bellarose100. I am also in Australia and just wanted to check that you are aware of GST, duty and import fees associated with a purchase from the US?

I purchased an item from a fellow PSer last April (the exchange rate was more favourable than it is currently) at a cost of US$1800. The final cost to me when converted and fees paid was just under AUD$3500.

Because of the current US/AU Fair Trade Agreement you will (probably) not have to pay the 5% Duty (forms required from sender)…….IF things don’t change in regards to the FTA!?

I knew approximately what my final cost would be, but just wanted to mention it in case you are unaware.

Best of luck with your search.
