Budget is $200-$350.
While cleaning and organizing my collection last night, I thought about resetting another center gem into my Rosette ring.
I originally picked out a 6.7mm zircon for the setting. It arrived as a paler blue than I had remembered, whereas the sapphires in the setting were lavender sapphires that darkened once they were set--the end result is that the side stones are far more saturated, and when I'm wearing the ring, I don't really notice the center stone.
I have four gems close to these dimensions, two of which are spess garnets set aside for another project. Under indoor lighting at night, I liked the unheated pink sapphire for this setting, but it looked less ideal in daylight.
I don't want a sapphire for the center; all my sapphires above a certain size are unheated, and unheated sapphires within the budget would likely not be saturated enough or too dark. Tourmalines, zircons, anything that is saturated and pairs well with the red and purple colors of the setting...
