Please help me identify this ring gemstone and mark backwardsR then forward facing R, I believe!!

I found this ring in an online auction lot. It was filthy, but has cleaned up nicely! I am new to antique jewelry and would appreciate any help you have to offer in identifying this ring.

Welcome and nice find!

You will need much better photos -- more detail and proper exposed for the inside of the shank. I don't think that description of the maker's mark is correct -- at least it does not appear to be a mirror-image before the correct-facing "R." Otherwise we risk returning this cow to the wrong ranch.

Looks to me like the first letter is either an E or a B, reversed.
