Okay, so I REALLY need to get my ring (and a couple of other pieces of jewelry I have) insured, but I know you need to get an appraisal first. The problem is, when I go to local vendors (or appraisers?) on PS, it''s showing me places that are NOT near my area. And, the B&M store FI got my ring from is NOT helpful AT ALL in recommending someone!! (I have so many complaints I could make about this place. I will NEVER buy anything else from there again once we''re done paying off my WB. But I digress.) So, my question is: does anyone know of someone decent/reputable in my area? Or, I''m wondering if I should send my jewelry out to someone else to have it done? And how do you go about doing that? I feel very, very uncomfortable with the thought of mailing it out to someone...especially someone I''ve never seen.
And, what is the protocol/procedure for having something appraised? Do they do it while you wait? Do you leave your jewelry with them? How long does it take to get things back? What do they give you in return? How much does this usually cost? AND, is this all that is needed to get insurance for your jewelry, or is there more I should know about??
I''m totally confused, but I''m realizing the importance in having this done.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
