Hey there all of you DIY people....

I am in love with this bouquet and I am having an aversion to spending tons of money on flowers at my wedding, but the date is nearing and I need to make a decision and FAST.

So, if you wouldn''t mind giving me some input on what types of feathers these are and where I might find them...

I think they might be ostrich feathers, but I can''t find ostrich feathers that are individual plumes like that, they are all the large plumes like you see in centerpieces.

Thanks for all of your input and I hope I can work this out.

Here's one possibility -- natural white saddle:

Here's another:

And one more, though they don't seem to come in whitr:

You could check out Michael''s, they would have the berries too. However their feather selection is going to be limited and likely more along the lines of the plumes as well.

Wow! You guys are good!

VRBeauty: Thanks so much for the websites! They give me exactly what I need! I googled and googled and googled and couldn''t find what I needed and you came through with exactly the right feathers!

ilovesparkles: I will have to try Michaels...I have only checked Hobby Lobby and didn''t even think about Michaels...I will have to head there this week.

Thanks again...now I have to make my final decision.

I showed one of my bridesmaids the bouquet and she said that she would be embarassed to carry a feather bouquet. You have to forgive her for being so upfront...thats just who she is. Do you think it''s tacky? Would you like to carry one? I just think it will save me so much money and I will be able to pay for the exact centerpieces I want. Also, it is a winter wedding and I think it would go with the decor.

Thanks for your input!

Awwww, I''m sorry about what your BM said! I think it would be awesome and unique! My friend carried a bouquet put together of sparkle covered, plastic Christmas fruit. Sounds ridiculous, but it was on New Years Eve, and Christmas was the theme. Overall it had a really cool effect! I personally love feathers in bouquets and thought about having some in mine! I hope she comes around or keeps her mouth shut, it''s YOUR wedding after all!

And PLEASE post pictures of your final product!

I'm guessing your BM just isn't one for thinking out of the box...

When I saw your inspiration picture, the first thing that came to mind is "winter wedding."

I can see a feathery arrangement like that with some curly willow or manzanita, painted a soft white and/or adorned with the subtlest of crystals...

or the white feathers accenting deep red holly berries, red roses, or a spectacular red amaryllis... or apple green bells of ireland or button mums...

Order some feathers and let your imagination go. I think you could come up with a spectacular, one-of-a-kind bouquet pretty easily.

i''m not much of a diy''er but i just wanted to say how cool i think your bouquet idea is, very unique and something you can definitely keep without worrying about having to preserve it

I think it''s cute but honestly, I must prefer real flowers. It''s romantic and adds softness to your look for the day, and flowers look amazing in pictures... If you want to save money I would splurge on flowers for your own bouquet, but maybe not have bouquets for your bridemaids... Or you can choose inexpensive flowers that are in season like tulips in the spring. In my opinion, every bride should have some beautiful flowers in her hand as she walks down the aisle!
