Yes, the crown is steep and the pavilion is deep. When crown angles increase the pavilion angle should decrease. You can see this clearly on the chart below. For rings we generally recommend staying in the Yellow, Green and Orange columns. Your post said you're looking for a pair of ER. I assume you mean earrings and not engagement rings? Either way you can use the following information to guide your search.

I agree @John Pollard! I think I've read all the educational pages in the past 8 years and this is the most clear and concise cut and proportion information I've seen.
