I am currently in the journey of looking for my "perfect" stone !
There are just so much information and I am sooo confused ! I have found this one stone that I think would be it but please give me your opinions !
I am a little worried about the inclusions that might be visible, even though I have heard VS2 is usually eye clean. I requested a video of this stone in real life and without magnification. The owner of the store said they hand-picked their stones and they have high standards for the stones added into their inventory. The price is $12,800.

I also used HCA and the result is "Should sparkle beautifully and looks bigger than usual for it's carat weight. Low HCA scores and bigger sized diamonds can appear dark when viewed close up; but these stones can be great for earrings and pendants."
Light return: excellent
fire: excellent
scintillation: very good
spread: excellent
HCA score: 1.4 excellent

Depth 59.6%
Table 60%
Crown Angle 32.0°
Crown Height 12.5%
Pavilion Angle 41.0°
Pavilion Depth 43.5%
Star Length 55%
Lower Half 75%
Girdle Medium to Slightly Thick, Faceted, 3.5%
Culet None

Polish & Symmetry: Execellent

Flu: Strong Blue

Clarity: Crystal, Cloud, Indented Natural, Natural

Here are some pictures

Can you send the video link? Or give the certificate number so the experts can look at the video. I’m not an expert, but those still photos don’t look good to me, but that could be the angles.
The HCA score is good, but that is only used to eliminate bad stones so it is not the most important factor. Some stones look great on paper, but not in real life so the videos are important. Is this a local jeweler? If not, who is the vendor?

Gia report # 2223792602

There isn’t a video in the report I believe.. I have the video but I can’t figure out how to post it here. Can I post videos in the thread? Yes this is a local jewelrer. I have heard good things and they are reputable for having eye-clean stones even with clarity SI2. I am working directly with the owner.

Oh shoot I forgot the first part
Measurements: 7.42 - 7.45 x 4.43
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Cut: Excellent

I wouldn't buy this stone. It is not what most of us would consider well cut (despite the GIA excellent rating and what the vendor told you). Are you open to buying online?

I agreed with lovedogs, I wouldn't buy it too... seems like a 60/60 stone... I'm sure the owner of the shop has better stone, possible to ask the owner for below spec quoted by @sledge :

54-57 table
60.5-62 depth
34-35 crown
40.6-40.8 pavilion
75-80 lower girdle facets
45-55 stars
No culet
GIA 3x or even better AGS 000

For video, you can upload to imgur or youtube and share the link here

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, minnie_0899!

As the others have stated, it would be best to avoid this one: it is a 60/60 style cut which can be great, but this is not one that meets that definition, unfortunately.

What sellers have you looked at and what is your budget for a diamond?

This stone would not work for me. If you give us your budget/specs we can help look for a better cut stone.

Table is way to big for me.

Thank you!!
Yes I am! My partner’s budget is $13k. We feel like we might not have enough budget for a 1.5 carat, excellent cut, near colorless , VS1 and better, 3ex. These were our original specs but we haven’t been able to find anything…

Thank you! I don’t know how to reply to multiple comments in one reply so here it is:

I have looked at Blue Nile, James Allen, a few stores like Ben Bridge, Lauren B. My partner’s budget is $13k. We feel like we might not have enough budget for a 1.5 carat, excellent cut, near colorless , VS1 and above, 3ex. These were our original specs but we haven’t been able to find anything…

Thank you for the useful info! I’ll ask them and search more

Just for perspective on size, my DIL has a <1.5ct. Solitaire, but that sucker has a lot of fire and sparkle. She is a busy mom of a 3 y/o and a 5 month old, so the only time the ring gets cleaned is when she visits me! (Don’t worry, she loves it when I clean it.). But it always sparkles. A great cut can be worth more than a small change in size (and sometimes diamonds “face up” larger than their ct. weight) and going down a little might help you stay within budget. That being said, the pros on here are excellent at finding great diamonds for people. So, give them a chance and see where it leads you!

I'll look, but in my opinion it's better to get a slightly smaller stone that is truly an excellent cut. It will sparkle more and look more lively than a larger but worse cut stone.

Thank you! This gives me hope !
I’m totally okay with going down a little for the right diamond! I’ll for sure look at all the suggestions.

WF is an “easy button” approach as they are super ideals with all the pedigree to make choosing very simple and painless. Plus a killer upgrade program.

If you are stuck on shopping locally then have your jeweler find you some stones meeting the proportions @entaro quoted me on earlier. It’s pretty strict but will put your consideration list to a reasonable and manageable number. If they can’t get a stone with those proportions I would get a new jeweler.

Actually, no, just buy this one (in my opinion): https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-di...olor-si1-clarity-round-ideal-cut-sku-a4473428

Its eye clean, ALMOST 1.5 (not visibly different from 1.5) and comes with white flash's $1 upgrade policy. Plus it's in house so you can ask them for IRL pics. And its eye clean even though it's an SI1

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I’ll share these 2 with my partner. I’ll pass on the diamond from my original post for sure!

Is this the right report number? Can't find it in GIA website...

Cant go wrong with ACA, and since you wanted a "perfect" stone with a budget, Whiteflash ACA is the way to go, plus their upgrade policy is one of the best if not the best....

Can consider this too although it is a tad higher than your budget and a tad smaller but it's a VS1 :

This one better color and almost 1.5 but price 2.2k more.... since you needed it to be perfect I guess you can consider it too :)

Don't wait too long, as the good ones go fast. I like the SI that Lovedogs recommended for the money. Some people discount SI, but it's all in where and what type of inclusions there are. I would at least ask if they can put it on hold and send more photos, etc, in different lighting and hand shots and the SA personal observations. You can ask them to compare to the other 2 that entaro found as well.

Thank you for the suggestions! We’ll look at these as well. Oh dear we did not know our 13k budget is actually small! We both didn’t realize the high cost of diamonds until… yesterday lol.

This combination when reasonably well executed will be very bright, but that is all it has going for it.
Fire and scintillation will both be negatively impacted by the low crown and large table.
Seeing it in person some people may love it but there are other combinations that have more going for them.

I found a GIA 3X 1.50 F VS2 with a 40.8/35.5/57 combo paired with 80% lowers and 45% stars for $13420 at Ritani (that should be enough info for you to search and find it).
Should be eye-clean at 10-12 inches and further.
Might be worth ordering to see with your own eyes...you can always return it within the 15 day window.
Move fast!
