PLEASE HELP - What is wrong with this RB cut?!?

Hello All!

Shopping for a 2.2-2.4ish RB (minimum I color) and have found a couple gorgeous WF ACAs with the help from all the tools here... that being said, this is for an upgrade and would need to sell of trade in my current diamond (which is much easier through the local b&m we originally purchased from). Budget is less than 30K including trade.

They use a generic / 3rd party diamond search tool on the site for inventory they can get in and I only found ONE stone in that size range that has all the cheat sheet stats, and scores a 0.7 on the HCA. The numbers suggest a great stone, BUT the GIA cert states "Very Good Cut" :(... Can any of you tell what the issue is? Or do I need ideal scope / aset / hearts images?? Tempted to see if they can get it in, but don't want to bother if there are red flags. My 1st priority is cut.

Please see GIA report attached. Any help greatly appreciated!!

40.4 is quite shallow. Do you have any images or videos of the stone?

Nope. All I can dig up is GIA cert. Thinking I should ask them to get it in and purchase some tools... Unless it is a glaring no-go from this info.

It worries me that it's a very good cut vs excellent, and the shallow crown angle is definitely a concern. I dont think I would have them call it in if it meant paying for it. I think I would only have it called in if there was a 100% zero risk policy (e.g. no pressure from the sales people and no money lost)

This is how I feel :( I really want to go for one of the WF stones I found, but feel like it will take forever to consign my current diamond :(

I think it's worth going for WF. The diamonds are so so good and there is virtually no risk of being unhappy with it. Yes it might take a while to consign your current stone, but it's worth it to have a stone you're happy with in the end.

I agree with lovedogs. Here are notes on the HCA score from the creator.
  • Scores of 0-1 are usually not best for rings.
  • Most people prefer stones that score 1-2, or even top Hearts & Arrows symmetry stones up to 3.0.

I saw that... but the 2 ACAs I am looking at with WF are 0.7 and 0.9

I'll echo what the others have said: it may be a fine diamond, but there is a bit of risk with those proportions when you are not able to asset is yourself. Being an I color that may have some leakage, I would venture to say that an ACA (or equivalent top of the line from WolfCBI, Victor Canera, or Brian Gavin - you can also check with David at DBL and Jon at DG) J color would likely even throw out more white light return and seem more lively, appearing as a much better color than this I grade...if it exhibits moderate leakage.

Here are some WF ACA options to consider.

Thank you for these! There are 2 I am looking at - if I purchase from WF it will be one of them (looking for minimum I color).

To be honest, I am hesitant to share on here for fear someone might purchase... is that silly?

There are no DMs here, since there are dealers/trade that regularly participate.

Contact WF and put them on hold, then you can post them (or at least the links to the AGS reports.
As mwilliamanderson said, since these are highly vetted diamonds from a highly reputable seller, most of the hard work has been done for you.

I would if I was ready to put a deposit down on them - not quite there yet! But Liza has pulled / photographed them and they are amazing. One is perfect (to me). I think it is "the one" but I am making sure I am doing my due diligence locally first...

Their cut parameters are so tight in the ACA line that, apart from inclusion placement and sensitivity around color, you needn't worry.
